An officer tonight saved a child choking, what a wonderful story!
FORT DODGE, Iowa -
An officer saved an 18-month-old child’s life Monday after police got a call that a child was choking.
Police and fire personnel responded to the Chen Garden restaurant in Fort Dodge to find an 18-month-old boy choking on a grape.
Margaret Garcia, of Fort Dodge, yelled in the restaurant for someone to call 911 when her son, Edward, started choking and turned a “purplish color,” according to police.
Officer Cody Harris was first on the scene and was able to help the child expel the grape. Police said the baby began breathing normally, and he was examined by Fort Dodge rescue crews.
