Official State of the Union Thread

Mr. Trump said that America is the largest crude oil producer in the world and that production has hit a record high.

This is true.

The United States has been the largest producer of oil and gas in the world since 2013, a trend that began under the Obama administration thanks in large part to advances in shale drilling techniques.

Mr. Trump claimed nearly 5 million people have been lifted off food stamps.

This is exaggerated.

The number of Americans in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program decreased by more than 3.5 million between February 2017 — Mr. Trump’s first full month in office — to September 2018, according to the latest available data. By comparison, the number of people receiving the aid decreased by 5 million from June 2015 to January 2017.

Mr. Trump said that Ralph Northam, the embattled governor of Virginia, said he would execute a baby after it was born.

This is false.

In an interview last month, Governor Northam said that he supported a late-term abortion bill that would loosen restrictions on the procedure, and allow women to consult with a doctor on an abortion up to, but not including, the time of birth.

The governor, a pediatric neurologist, also talked about some of the dangerous medical emergencies that pregnant women could face, such as carrying a nonviable fetus. He said that in such a case, the mother would deliver the infant and then, “the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.” While Mr. Northam was talking about an end-of-life care discussion in the case of a child that would not live, Republicans seized on his remarks as evidence that Mr. Northam supported killing babies after their birth.

Mr. Trump said his administration is holding talks with several groups in Afghanistan, including the Taliban.

This is true.

Mr. Trump said that American forces last month killed one of the leaders of the 2000 bombing of the naval destroyer Cole.

This is true.

Mr. Trump said that American troops have been “fighting in the Middle East for almost 19 years.”

This is false.

American troops deployed to Afghanistan on Oct. 7, 2001, to begin Operation Enduring Freedom — the American military and NATO mission to rid Afghanistan of Al Qaeda. But Afghanistan is not technically considered part of the Middle East — it is in southwest Asia. The United States invaded Iraq, which is in the Middle East, in March 2003 — nearly 16 years ago.

Mr. Trump said that lawmakers in New York cheered the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth.

This is misleading.

On Jan. 22, the 46th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, a Democrat of New York, signed the Reproductive Health Act, which ensures a woman’s right to an abortion in New York if Roe v. Wade were to be overturned. It does not broadly allow abortions until shortly before birth, as Mr. Trump suggested. Instead, it will allow for an abortion after 24 weeks to protect the mother’s health or if the fetus is not viable. Under the prior law, abortions were allowed after 24 weeks only if the woman’s life was in jeopardy.

Fact Checking the 2019 State of the Union Address

Northam, a pediatric neurosurgeon, told Washington radio station WTOP. "The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother."
We are talking about a non viable infant being cared for

A baby at the time of birth IS viable in this day and age. We have the technology to save a babies life when they are premature, don't tell me a full term baby is unviable.

There is a vast range of problems that might make viability not possible at birth.

"The bold statement, initiated by the House Democratic Women's Working Group, saw dozens of lawmakers coordinate their attire as a show of solidarity among women. Democrats taking part included newly-elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York,"

https://www.cnn.com/style/article/wearing-white-sotu-meaning/index.html

Seems pretty harmless to me.

Looks like the OP wants to try and paint this as some kind of deep state demonstration orchestrated by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her "Friends" to associate these women with the KKK and lynching. Now, talk about bizarre.

I think they all decided to dress as the snowflakes they are!

Millions of people heard what Northam said and how the law would be applied . It is infanticide. The child would be born and then there would be a discussion as to whether it would be allowed to live. That is infanticide. Those who protect baby killers disagree. They say it would only apply to non viable infants. But the law is not written that way. The law, as written, applies to every child.

Did Wortham say those words "whether it would be allowed to live", or are you twisting the actual quote to mean something other than what he actually said?

Fact Checking the 2019 State of the Union Address

By all means allow me to fact check the facts, I'll only do the ones your source called a lie

First we'll address food stamps. Your very own source admits that yes there are 5 million fewer people on food stamps than when Obama was President, so when Trump says "there are 5M less people on food stamps than before I came into office" that is entirely true. That "only" 3.5M of them came off food stamps WHILE he was in office is immaterial.

Second, the Gov of Virginia most certainly DID say during a radio interview that under the new proposed law that a baby could be terminated after birth. Anyone who listened to that interview could clearly tell that was the intent.

Third, it is not false to say that American troops have been fighting in the Middle East for almost 19 years, I mean 17 years is almost 19 , which is what Trump said "almost 19 years" and quibbling over 2 years is exactly that anyway, quibbling like a little fucking child.

Fourth, the NY state House most certainly did cheer the passage of a bill that would allow for VERY late term abortions.

In short, the "lies" listed are all lies themselves and you wonder why people distrust media sources?

I thought maybe they were going to get a Lynch Mob together and go after Trump, then they realized the Secret Service, Joint Chiefs, and even the Holocaust survivor would kick their sorry asses.

Putin got his man in the White House...now he is busy carrying out Putin's agenda.

If the infant is unviable then why make it "comfortable" and why the need for a discussion about "resuscitation"?

You pro-infanticide folks need to think your argument through more thoroughly before debating the topic.

Greatest SOTU speech ever given! Trump nailed it like Martin Luther nailed the ninety-five theses to chapel door.

The best part was Bernie's face when Trump said we'd never be a socialist country. I bet Ocasio-Cortez peed in her panties when he said that.

:laughing0301:

I love how the Democratic women in white clapped so enthusiastically for themselves, but sat on their hands during the rest of the speech, even while Trump was talking about how black unemployment was the lowest it's ever been.
Dems hate the Employment Numbers for Blacks being down, it takes away their voting base when Blacks , and other people of Color start to get a piece of the Pie that they don't have to rely on the Govt for. Having a job and the opportunity to rise from Poverty on their own has seriously damaged the Dems because they don't have anyone to subjugate with Govt. welfare. Well the Number is Shrinking anyway. Sooooooo! They'll try to import votes they are losing here with needy Socialists from other countries . See the caravans. They are the replacement team for the babies Dems have promoted killing since1971. 926,000 in 2014. That is more Americans killed than in any war since the founding of our Country in 1 yr. But if an American Soldier kills a terrorist in the Fight against terrorism we Destroy his life and throw them in prison forever. really!:th_beback:

You actually going to start a thread about lies, and then lie yourself ? Come on man, what else cold the Gov possibly have been talking about "after birth we'll keep the baby comfortable while the woman and her doctor discuss what to do?"

Nobody cares what the fringe left thought about the speech......what matters is what the whole country thought.
Ah. So this matters then?

Trump routinely says things that aren’t
true. Few Americans believe him.

https://www.washingtonpost.com
[...] Fewer than 3 in 10 Americans — including fewer than 4 in 10 Republicans — believe these or several other prominent claims by the president, according to the poll.
The Washington Compost is simply posting a rigged poll to try to prove a point.

Face it, this is why Nazi Pelosi didn't want him to give the speech. Because it destroys their false narrative. 76% approval on the speech. Even on CNN.

I think it looked kind of like a KKK meeting just before they put their hoods on, then go out and lynch somebody. That was some bizarre shit there. WTF?

Do any of you conservatives bother to learn about things you try to talk about?

Do you have any knowledge of the history of our nation?

I swear it's just embarrassing how down right stupid and full of hate you are.

Here's a little history lesson. Pay attention:

At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century women stood up and demanded the right to vote. Conservative men of this nation fought their demands. Women protested. The conservative men put them in prison. Women lost their families, children, jobs their freedom and some even lost their lives in their suffrage to get the right to vote.

In 1920 on a hot August day women finally got that right to vote in all of the US.

Those women were wearing Suffrage White in respect towards all the women who suffered and gave up so much for us women to have the right to vote.

I understand why you don't know about this and make such ridiculous statements about it. You hate anyone who doesn't share your views so much that you have to make such hateful and ridiculous statements about women who are showing such respect for all those brave women who fought so long and hard for us to have the right to vote.

You and people like you disgust me.
