The trade deficit is a component of the GDP calculation and is one of the big reasons why the 1st QTR GDP in 2022 was negative. Sounds as if the 2nd QTR might be negative too and that is the definition of a recession (2 qtrs in a row of negative growth). The democrats are going to bitch about Roe v Wade every day, but I don't think that will overshadow the economic problems most people have these days.
