Operation Iron Swords (מבצע חרבות ברזל)

A large retaliatory measure against Iran has been cancelled. However, there was a large strike against Hezbollah.

Erdogan claimed that Israel will attack Turkey after Hamas has been destroyed, and that Hamas defends Turkey.

"Do not think that Israel will stop in Gaza. Unless it’s stopped… this rogue and terrorist state will set its sights on Anatolia sooner or later. We will continue to stand by Hamas, which fights for the independence of its own land and which defends Anatolia."

Erdogan is a big fan of Islamist militias, here are his own:

News:

"Israeli leaders have reached final consensus on an operation in Rafah - and the US is not expected to oppose it, the Washington Post's David Ignatius reported.

According to Ignatius, instead of a heavy attack with two divisions, Israel will conduct a more limited attack, which US officials believe will result in fewer civilian casualties. It is for this reason that the US is not likely to oppose the Rafah strike.

US officials also believe that about 800,000 of the 1.5 million Gazans in Rafah have evacuated the area.

Ignatius also noted that "Hamas will retain a presence in Gaza," and that the terror group has chosen to "melt into the population as a guerrilla force" instead of fighting the IDF in open warfare. Israel therefore plans to continue conducting antiterror raids in Gaza, where the status quo may become like that in Judea and Samaria.

The article also confirmed that Israel's plans for "the day after" include a Gazan security force drawn from the Palestinian Authority's system, which will be overseen by "a governing council of Palestinian notables" and backed by moderate Arab states. Israel is divided on whether this entity should have ties in Ramallah.

Meanwhile, Hamas has confirmed that this entity could be part of a "transitional agreement" included in a ceasefire-prisoner swap deal.

According to Ignatius, US officials believe that talks on such a deal could resume as early as this week."

I doubt Israel has agreed to this.

They need Washington´s assistance. And a PA security force is better for Israel than a Palestinian state imposed by the US.
A PA security force would do nothing to prevent the attacks against Israel and probably would not even be able to survive in Gaza, and there is no way to create a Palestinian state in fact rather than just on paper. Israel will not sacrifice its security to help Biden win a second term.

You are probably right but don´t forget that a US´ decision on "the after the war" is a big deal for Netanyahu because the discordance over this issue in his cabinet has destabilized his government. And when the PA force fails that is a good reason to intervene.

There is no good answer to the day after question and Gantz and Gallant are just trying to force Netanyahu to take a position they can attack; notice they have not put forward and answers, themselves. As for Blinken's ramblings about the day after, they are all about US relations with Saudi Arabia and not at all about solving the problems in Gaza.

There is a major update on the US policy on the Gaza Strip. The US is basically about to take control of the Strip via an absent person that will be in contact with the PA force in the Gaza Strip. The US will not only control that force but also the governance of the area for a long period after the war. The US also considers deploying an international security force there.

Another example of the unparalleled stupidity of the Biden administration.

After friday´s ICJ ruling, Hamas feels save to continue terrorizing Israel with rockets.
Israel will allow the opening of the Rafah border crossing. They also withdrew some troops, officially to refresh and redeploy them.

"Eyewitnesses say Israeli tanks have been spotted near the Al-Awda Mosque, Rafah's central landmark. The Israeli military says its forces continue to operate in the Rafah area, but has not commented on reports of advances towards the city center.

The IDF continues its offensive on Rafah, an enclave now ruled by Hamas militants. Aviation carries out regular airstrikes on the city. The tanks advanced to the western areas and took up positions on the top of Zurub Hill in western Rafah under cover of intense bombardment. Residents of Rafah said that the Israeli military appeared to have brought remote-controlled armored vehicles to the offensive area.

Since the start of Israel's offensive, when its forces took control of the border crossing with Egypt three weeks ago, tanks have cleared the outskirts of Rafah and entered some of its eastern districts, but have not yet entered the city in full force."

  • [Other groups that] participated in the October 7 massacre.... include Palestinian Islamic Jihad -- and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of the Fatah faction headed by none other than the president of the Palestinian Authority (PA), Mahmoud Abbas.
  • The involvement of terrorists from Abbas's Fatah faction in the October 7 slaughter and terrorist attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, however, may surprise some people. Many in the West consider Fatah, which dominates the PA, to be a "moderate" party that wants to live in peace and harmony with Israel. This rumor may have come about because we have been told many times by Palestinian officials that Fatah's armed wing, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, was dismantled (at least in the West Bank).
  • Earlier this month, Abu Mohammed, the official spokesman for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, revealed that the group's fighters participated in the Hamas-led October 7 attack on Israeli communities near the border with the Gaza Strip.
  • In another recent video, Fatah claimed responsibility for a "sniper operation" against Israeli soldiers in Jabalya refugee camp, a stronghold of Hamas and PIJ in the Gaza Strip. The Fatah terrorists said that they used a Hamas-manufactured rifle called Al-Ghoul to target the Israeli soldiers. The video is clear evidence that Abbas's Fatah loyalists have been working in coordination with Hamas.
  • That Fatah participated in the October 7 massacre and other terrorist attacks shows that there is really little if no distinction between Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah, and Hamas.

  • Guess Which 'Moderate' Palestinian Terrorist Group Participated In the October 7 Massacre
