Nope, that is not what happened. Whereas, Cruz has outboxed him in Colorado big time.

In Michigan, the fight was over committee seats. Cruz lost because his people tried to take all the seats instead of compromising with Kasich's people per agreement. Trump got one of the seats, Kasich another.

Cruz has been smoking Trump in delegate selection at the state conventions.

Trump thought he got to pick the delegates.
