there are lessons to be learned in fantastical scenarios. they can get the creative juices flowing and spawn ideas that can be carried over to the 'real world.'

they can also allow you to drill in multiple areas in ways that any one realistic scenario may not.

And the possibility of epidemic contagions is very real. Keeping the infected and the infection out is the same as keeping zombies out.

It sounds ridiculous on the surface, but planning for a zombie apocalypse is not a bad idea.

I'd put money on it that FEMA has already done so.

There was a time when the news was viewed as a public service. The facts were presented.

Now news is big business. And when do we watch the news? When we are happy and confident? Or when we are scared or pissed off?

So it is in the news media's best interest to keep us either scared or pissed off. Look at the news ratings on 9/11/01 and the days that followed. They were off the charts.
