Poll On Gun Violence: America Wants Action

One of the reasons (very intelligent reason) we are a Republic and not a pure Democracy is that voters will spend the entire national budget one year to save the whales and the next year they will destroy the economy to fight Fentanyl addiction.

Depending on which source of propaganda is pulling our heartstrings, will determine what our latest national outrage will be.

Maybe it will be too much mercury in our tuna ... maybe it will be sexual predators in our schools.

People got scared about COVID because they were told to be scared of COVID ... some still are terrified about it.

Everyone needs to calm the hell down and actually try to understand why mentally-ill people are committing violent acts in what should be safe and secure locations.

Humans are an overly emotional, irrational species. How we've survived this long is quite frankly astonishing to me.

And we’ll get the usual dishonest rhetoric from the right:

Polls don’t matter, America is not a democracy, the country is run by the states, not the people.

Rightwing obstructionism will prevent anything being done to address gun crime and violence, another manifestation of the tyranny of Republican minority rule.
The answer to crime has never been to take rights away from the law abiding.

The answer to crime is focusing on the criminals.

I'm all for health care ... just as long as it isn't "free" -- I.e. paid for by someone else.
All the free mental healthcare in the world won't solve our problem.

Unless and until we can go back to institutionalizing the criminally insane for life instead of judges forcing their release every time they get medicated to the point they are no longer a danger to themselves and others.

Once released over 90% quit treatment and the whole cycle starts over again and nothing can be done until they commit another crime worth of another trip to the Boobie Hatch.

No involuntary committal means that the revolving door mental system puts violent offenders out on the street instead of under supervised care where they need to be.

Exactly. There at least needs to be a system created where once they are manageable they go into a supervised living "community" where they can be monitored to ensure they remain on their med's and don't recycle endlessly.

The "action" I want is for the fucking assholes in government to leave my Constitutional rights alone.

It is really pathetic of how dumbass these college and Law school graduates that make it to Congress are that don't even know what the simple phase "shall not be infringed" means.

And what happens?

GOP reps drag their feet while claiming they are negotiating. What we end up with are watered down pieces of legislation that let them claim they "did something" .

Of course they'll turn around and claim these laws do nothing when the next mass shooting happens
If the laws passed to stop mass shootings fail to stop mass shootings don't you think that just maybe it's time to take another approach?

How about we just start fully enforcing existing law and see how that works for a change?

That response from you is the perfect example of why nothing gets done. Like with so many things the partisan politicians on both sides and there equally partisan supporters care more about having the issue for political purposes than they do dealing with the problem.
If we ever actually did anything to stop mass shootings they'd lose their primary means to campaign for gun control.

They aren't interested in doing anything that actually reduces violent crime, in fact they've been busy undoing what was proven to work for the last eight or ten years.

And oh look.

44% of Republicans think we should just shrug and accept it

In that case, an amendment to the constitution should be easy peasy.
So, you authoritarian shit stains, what are you waiting for?

Total bullshit

YOU and people like you want to do nothing meaningful.

We're the people hardening schools and providing them armed security so they have an immediate armed response available if someone manages to get through.

Our schools are not getting shot up.

So swat teams in every school parking lot huh?

How well did your "solution" work in Uvalde?

Until you prosecute Hunter Biden for lying on the federal 4473 form and illegally buying a handgun, you have nothing legitimate to say about guns.

You're also flying the flag of a country where being gay is illegal, so we know you're a homophobic, bigoted piece of shit.

Better than the unnecessary and ineffective gun control laws in NY.
Sorry dick but having an armed cop assigned to that school in Uvalde and "hardening it" whatever that means...didn't work "better" than anything...in other words...not at all
