Pope Demotes Anti-Gay Cardinal

Good. This Pope has decided to draw more people to the teachings of Jesus, as opposed to driving them away, which is what conservatives would prefer. Helping the poor and the sick > hating teh gheys.

The Bible clearly states homosexuality is an abomination and a sin. Even the Pope can't change that fact.

Cardinal Burke was too political? I find that hilarious since the Church has always delved into politics
Go stand on a corner and scream hell and brimfire to drive people away from the church if you like. No one is stopping you.

It's an abomination in the eyes of God. Your comment doesn't refute that....idiot
Okay. This will shock you, but there are a whole lot of other issues that matter to Christianity. Calling gays evil and condemning them to hell sure as fuck won't bring them to the church. I know you really want it to happen, but the Catholic church won't be behaving like the Westboro Baptist Church any time soon.
And this is likely to shock your assumptions. Catholics don't call gays evil, they don't condemn them to hell. Gay behavior is a sin. There are lots and lots of sins.

There are sinners in every pew. If gay people are staying away from the Church it isn't because they aren't welcome. You'd know that, if you ever went to Mass.

I've been a Catholic my entire life. I've been to enough masses for 10 lifetimes. And you're right, the Catholic church is not known for preaching hatred against gay people.

That's why it's good that this Bishop was demoted.

The pope isn't a socialist

Read his speech to Congress: Transcript: Pope Francis’s speech to Congress

Now tell me he isn't a socialist.

Note the lionization of Thomas Merton and Dorothy Day.
Nowhere in that does it indicate the pope is a socialist.
I take it you don't know who Merton and Day are, or much about the 60s.
MLK was a socialist, that doesn't make people who allude/discuss him socialists.

I've never seen Merton as a Socialist. Definitely a pacifist, a leader of Civil Rights, a spiritual explorer, even a jazz lover, but hardly a serious Socialist.

Even if both of them were devout communists, the pope is not calling for class warfare.

I know that, I was simply making a reference and a point.

OMG this is priceless. Ted Cruz Calls for the Vatican to fire the Pope.

“Back in March, Ted Cruz, a senator from Texas and candidate for president of the United States, said, referring to the rhetoric by believers in global warming, “And the language of denial is revealing because one usually hears of deniers in the religious context, dealing with heretics. And much of the global warming hysteria is pushed forth as a religious truth that no facts can dare contravene.”

“But, Republicans who are eyeing the White House are caught between two political blasphemies: angering the conservative base and disagreeing with a very popular Pope. The pontiff released a highly anticipated papal document on climate change and the environment on Thursday, calling the fight against global warming a moral imperative and “one of the principal challenges of humanity.”

“However, Cruz, who is widely known to resist the notion of climate change, also said earlier this year: “The satellite data demonstrate that there has been no significant warming whatsoever for 17 years.” He also added that he agrees with fellow Republican Jeb Bush about the Pope needing to stay out of politics and focus more on religious issues.

“It just wasn’t meant to work as a two-way street,” Cruz said. “Religion is one thing; it’s very important to people and is at the core of essential human beliefs. On the other hand, politics is just as important, but is diametrically opposite. The two have nothing in common. What’s more, the world is in enough trouble as it is without the head of one of the largest religions on the planet meddling in business he’s not supposed to.”

And then came the bombshell: “I really think the Vatican ought to reconsider keeping Francis as the Pope in the future. I really don’t know how that whole papal thing works, but if they have the ability to fire him or something, they should put some serious though into that option. Otherwise, at the rate he’s going, he might even decide to run in the 2016 U.S. presidential election,” Cruz concluded. Ted Cruz Calls For The Vatican To Fire Pope Francis - Newslo

Well we won't bring up the fact that the Hebrew translation of abominable is open for conjecture because religious historians strongly disagree that the word toevah actually means what some say it means.
