Pope to address U.S. Congress

I feel sorry for you Roman Catholics, this supposed Pope has NOTHING to do with religion, your Cardinals were OBOMATIZED when electing him....and here is one of his closet friends in S. America telling you EXACTLY what bill of goods you were sold......

Bolivian President Evo Morales calls Pope Francis’ teachings ‘SOCIALISM’

Crux News ^ |
SANTA CRUZ, Bolivia — Evo Morales says he feels like he’s got a good friend and ally in the highest of places in his battle for revolutionary social change and halting global warming: Pope Francis. Bolivia’s president also said Friday he thinks that what Pope Francis preaches amounts to socialism. “I feel like the pope is the first and best politician in the world,” Bolivia’s president said in an interview with The Associated Press a few hours before bidding Latin America’s first pope goodbye. Francis made history on his two-day visit by apologizing before Bolivia’s first indigenous president for the...

So seeing as how cons hate this guy already let's see if any are brave enough to yell out YOU LIE. Or maybe they'll boo him.

I'm guessing the coward in them all will come out and they'll keep their big yappers shut. Until he leaves and can't defend himself then they'll talk trash as they watch his plane lift off.

Seeing how you radicals hate it when Church comes close to State, let's see if any are brave enough to protest; stand up and have their back to the Pope. The Pope is scoring high with Liberals in the areas of the environment, homosexuality, and state-sponsored redistribution of wealth; however, the Pope is not in line for the Margaret Sanger award anytime soon.

The Pope expresses his concern for the impoverished and the oppressed and to right wingers he is out of line. What the fuck are they teaching at RW churches that makes the words of the Pope so horrible and infuriating? I hear the first major christian leader in my lifetime actually speaking like Jesus did and to our "Christians" it's blackest heresy.

He did not just "express his concern for the impoverished".

He attacked capitalism.

We, right wingers strongly disagree with his opinion on that subject, among others.
I think Jesus also had a problem with people who put money and wealth foremost in their lives. Capitalism does not have to be as exploitative and corrupt as it is, does it? Is making money impossible without fucking people over and buying political power?

The pope needs to keep his nose in his city, those liberal policies are showing there toll on Rome already.

You know in every society and every religion there will always be a few zealots.

This man is a zealot and his rhetoric and political standings will eventually bite him in the ass.

He got enough problems in Rome to worry about he needs to stay the fuck out of ours .............

1. The economy
With the effects of austerity taking their toll and fears building about long-term capacity for growth, it is little wonder that Italy's economic situation has taken centre stage in the election campaign.

The country is now in its longest recession in 20 years, the economy having contracted for the last six consecutive quarters and languished in more than a decade of almost non-existent growth. Unemployment is at more than 11%; for under-25s, it is more than 36%. Italy has the second highest ratio of sovereign debt to GDP in the EU.

The six things wrong with Italy and how to solve them World news The Guardian

Anyway this is just a spokesman for another religion, doesn't mean our society will accept what he has to say.

So I can know how to feel about it.

Hey shit-storm-of-hypocrisy why is it you try to demonize religion but then when you think it will be to your advantage you use religion??

His rhetoric is less nuanced than that.

Well yes, yes it does, actually. Just like anything else in life, it will always devolve to the least common factor. There will always be someone who is willing to up the ante, to be a little more exploitative, play a little dirtier, be a little more of a douche bag, be a little more conniving, bend the rules just a little bit farther, just to get ahead. And it will always result in other people having to do the same things just to keep up and stay afloat.

I do not understand.

I support the Pope speaking there because he is a major world figure and the spiritual leader of millions of Americans.

He has the status to speak and to be heard.

I have no fear of the religious people engaging in politics.

Based on many of his messages in the past, I am skeptical of WHAT he has to say.

That is how I feel about it, and how I got there.

Perhaps but in his corner of the world, the southern cone, unfettered capitalism did some pretty terrible things, he has seen first hand what capitalists really want when they bitch about regulations and unions. The whole of South America is full of abandoned strip mines, toxic dumps, clear-cut forests, dead labor leaders and some very poor people.

I hope a holy Father instructs the Faithful, that bearing false witness to our own laws is a moral Badness and not a moral Goodness, should we aspire to any holiness through morality.

He is not a south american leader now, but a global one.

If he wanted to give the message you posted, he should have used less inflammatory rhetoric.

If he uses this opportunity to apologize for appearing to attack capitalism or America unfairly, I will consider his words.

Some glad handling about what a positive influence America has been in the world would be a good place to start.

It is truly a shame you on that side of the coin are so clueless.

When you discuss dead labor leaders make sure that others understand most were corrupt and killed by union members when their embezzlement / stealing was discovered.

Death Stalks Colombia's Unions

As Colombia struggles to free itself from a vortex of violence, union members, human rights activists and others still feel threatened by criminal elements––and their own government.

Launched July 14, 2013

Since 1986, more than 2,800 labor leaders and union members have been killed in Colombia. In recent years this South American nation has led the world in this grim statistic. And more than 9 out of 10 of these cases remain unsolved.

Colombia’s failure to protect workers was a key reason for the five-year delay in U.S. congressional approval of a free trade agreement with it. It was finally approved in 2011. Amid protests from human rights and labor groups, U.S. officials said Colombia had taken steps to protect workers and their labor rights.

Unions, human rights activists and others say the abuses and dangers persist, and in some case have grown. As a result of attacks on unions and other pressures, the percentage of unionized workers in Colombia has dropped from 15 percent 20 years ago to about 4 percent today.

Teachers have suffered along with others largely because they were seen as social activists and community organizers.

The dangers faced by union members and human rights activists mirror a long-lasting vortex of violence propelled by guerrillas, right-wing paramilitaries, drug cartels, criminals, and, according to human rights groups and others, military and government officials as well.

The State Department’s 2013 report on human rights in Colombia described a nation plagued by “an inefficient judiciary and corruption” that limit its ability to prosecute human rights violators.

Capitalists do not carefully choose their words when the people take exception to their practices, they destroy people on a daily basis who may hurt their bottom line. Capitalism is amoral by definition and they do not like it when anyone questions the morality of their activities.

I'm sure all will be respectful of his holiness. Election year, ya know. I would like to have Trump wired for sound during the address though. That would be worth the price of admission.

An exorcism is long overdue in Congress.

My point is more of a question, Is capitalism impossible without unduly exploiting the workforce, buying government influence and raping the environment? Capitalism is not all bad but neither is it all good, why do you feel the need to defend it even when it is clearly doing bad things?

As I said, he attacked capitalism. You support this because you have similar leftist views.

As a non leftist and a patriotic American, imo, he can fuck off.
