Something needs to be done about our current energy crisis and struggling fossil fuel industry. Here is a step in the right direction.

"The weakening of the Acts protections is one of many moves by U.S. President Donald Trump, a Republican, to roll back existing regulations to hasten oil, gas and coal production, as well as grazing and logging on federal land."

LOL at the writer of the article informing readers that Trump is a Republican.

Since Dem run cities repeatedly spill HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF GALLONS of toxic untreated sewage into public waterways Trump should focus environmental cleanup efforts on those filthy Dem cesspools and their crumbling sewage systems.

Is this true:

"The revisions finalized with this rulemaking fit squarely within the President’s mandate of easing the regulatory burden on the American public, without sacrificing our species’ protection and recovery goals," U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said in a statement.

Compare to this:

"These changes crash a bulldozer through the Endangered Species Act's lifesaving protections for America's most vulnerable wildlife," Noah Greenwald, the Center for Biological Diversity's endangered species director, said in a statement.

"For animals like wolverines and monarch butterflies, this could be the beginning of the end," Greenwald said.

Whom should I believe?

Most likely neither fully.

Since when are multi billion dollar profits a sign of a struggling industry?

How is that relevant to what I asked?

Does the relaxing of regulations do so without threatening certain "threatened" species?

Or

Is this action a death sentence to the monarch butterfly and the wolverine?

It's a drilling and production change, if I am not mistaken, which is conducted on very limited locations that recover quickly after production is complete.

What am I missing here?

.

Pretty sure no US city has been allowed to do that in over a century.
All cities have sewage treatment plants.

Do Americans want jobs or not?

China doesn't pile on environmental laws, and they have jobs. Get rid of those stupid laws and we'll have more jobs here.

Yep, they need help...

2018 was likely the most profitable year for U.S. oil producers since 2013 - Today in Energy - U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)

Net income for 43 U.S. oil producers totaled $28 billion in 2018, a five-year high. Based on net income, 2018 was the most profitable year for these U.S. oil producers since 2013, despite crude oil prices that were lower in 2018 than in 2013 on an annual average basis.

I would assume the truth lies in the somewhere in the middle

You're right, they don't have a whole lot of environmental laws.

They don't have much in the way of clean air and water, either.

God you people are clueless. Seattle just had another sewage spill last month, 4.5 MILLION GALLONS. Seattle is a serial sewage polluter. There have been many spills in the millions of gallons in just the past few years. Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, that's just the west coast. Dem city sewage treatment plants are broke as fuck and rather than fix them they blow their money on stupid liberal shit while their filth pollutes oceans and rivers.

SEATTLE – The Seattle sewage spill was halted late Thursday night after releasing between 150 million and 200 million gallons into Puget Sound and forcing the closure of some Kitsap beaches.

Well since he eased regulations on coal burning plants, both air and water quality in the USA has deteriorated. The Trump Administration's own studies show that

I'd go with the guy who says it's gutting the act.

For the first time in decades we now export more fuel than we import. While the left is wetting their panties about Russian fantasies, Trump helped us shed the yoke of energy dependence.
