Progs Now Turn To Ruining Our Food

best cheapest safest food supply in history

Nonsense.

"Pink slime" is an epithet for a meat-based product the meat industry calls "lean finely textured beef" (LFTB),[1] "finely textured beef",[2] and "boneless lean beef trimmings" (BLBT).[3] It was also derided as "soylent pink".[4][5][6] In 2001, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved the product for limited human consumption, and it has been used as a food additive to ground beef and beef-based processed meats as a filler, at a ratio of usually no more than 25 percent of any product; but it is banned from sale for human consumption in the European Union. In the production process heat and centrifuges separate the fat from the meat in beef trimmings.[7] The resulting product is exposed to ammonia gas or citric acid to kill bacteria

Sorry but remind me of the ill effects this has had.
Yeah, that's a fail.

From the OP

All Americans have access to healthful food;

● Farm policies are designed to support our public health and environmental objectives;

● Our food supply is free of toxic bacteria, chemicals and drugs;

● Production and marketing of our food are done transparently;

● The food industry pays a fair wage to those it employs;

● Food marketing sets children up for healthful lives by instilling in them a habit of eating real food;

● Animals are treated with compassion and attention to their well-being;

● The food system’s carbon footprint is reduced, and the amount of carbon sequestered on farmland is increased;

● The food system is sufficiently resilient to withstand the effects of climate change.

EXACTLY what part of this do you knee jerkers is bad?

As noted above, if a pub had suggested this, you'd be all for it. But, coming from Al Gore, all you can say is you want garbage and you don't want it labeled accurately.

Just one more example of RWs being against their own best interests.

Parents are in charge of what their children eat. Not government.

In spite of all the RWs lies to the contrary, no one has ever said they are not.

Why is it that everything dems propose leads to more government control?
And who in their right mind thinks thats a good thing?
If our government had a history of benevolence and efficiency I could understand it.
But they fail miserably on both counts on a regular basis.

Come on people, Obama is good friends with Beyonce and Jay Z and Al Gore invented the Internet. So how can they be wrong about anything? Think people. Think.

Are non sequitors a specialty of yours?

I already gave you Nanny/Police State wingnuts the solutions to your problems. Just stay in your homes 24/7 and stop eating & drinking. It solves this problem, and your Global Warming Boogeyman problem. I'm here to help. You're welcome.

Whats funny is the OP says that doing those things will "ruin our food" because chemicals are like seasoning

And let's not forget that regulation will somehow take away parenting rights.

"If I want my kid to eat Drano-laced meat, that's my God-given right!"

They seem to think that eating one good quality meal a day is gonna harm their kid.

They can still shove pizza, pepsi, potato chips and donuts in their little darlings for the other two meals a day.

The government works for the people.
.
Well, see there's your mistake. You've been badly misled.

Don't stop there. Tell me how I'm wrong.

How about you telling us the ultimate purpose of a food policy ? Is it to make us all happy? More productive? Better looking ?///

The purpose has been laid out here already, especially by luddly, I believe.

State it for me please.

There it is folks.

The utterly clueless RW "mind" at work.

Ever hear of Google? Use it. Your health is your own responsibility.

The US is the most obese country in the world. The US consumes the most processed food. Obesity costs all Americans more in healthcare spending than smoking.
In other words, the food that is offered to Americans is a driving force in the outrageous cost of healthcare in America.
If a person's diet is mainly processed food, they have no right to complain about the cost of healthcare.
Here's an interesting article that many posters should read:
Obesity Now Costs Americans More In HealthCare Spending Than Smoking
<snip>
"The high cost of being significantly overweight manifests in a variety of ways, ranging from the increased insurance premiums we all pay to subsidize the added medical charges incurred by the obese to the surprisingly dramatic impact our collective pounds has on energy costs."
Obesity Now Costs Americans More In HealthCare Spending Than Smoking - Forbes

So, all you folks who are complaining and probably have a diet that is high in processed food are certainly costing us folks who eat healthy money because we get stuck with your bad habits. The high cost of healthcare not only hurts the citizens of America but also hurts US businesses from being competitve on the world stage.

Why is it that RWs can never seem to do their own research? They always need to be spoon fed.

Ironic post of the day.
No, there are no ill effects from eating at McDonalds. Sure, do that every day you'll have a problem. Eat a cheeseburger at home every day and you'll also have problem. Eat 5 lbs of cheese every day and you'll have problems. But McDonald's made its reputation on offering food that was safe to eat and predictable anywhere you went.
Yeah, your health is your own responsibility. So why do you want the gov't stepping in?

Yes, because food industries have always done what is best for the consumer and environment.

Why not trust them?

Yeah, you should stop eating. Just to be safe. Problem solved. You're welcome.

Instead of the food companies telling you whats in it Pauls answer is to just dont eat.

See? Who said republicans dont come up with the great answers? Why bother those poor companies to tell us what we are putting in our bodies?

Your body is a temple and temples can be full of stuff like...temple stuff

Not eating and drinking solves all your problems. You won't have to worry so much, and we won't have to deal with you Nanny/Police State nutters. It's a Win-Win for all.

Deep thinker here. Not eating solves all your problems.

Well, it actually does. You nutters won't have to worry and whine so much, and we won't have to listen to you worry and whine so much. It really is a Win/Win for all involved. Case closed.

Sounds like you had too many cases already

You need to post a graph so we can confirm you're off your meds.

There isnt a bunch of chemicals in your food unless you're eating dog food from china.
Ask yourself this. If farmers and ranchers are loading up your food with chemicals,how long before the FDA comes down on them and closes the doors on em?
Not to mention once word gets out the public will shut them down by not purchasing their goods.

The OP's point in this thread seems to be that not only have you no right to be informed about what is in the food you eat, but that there should be no agency such as the FDA to check on what is being produced.

And you wonder why you end up eating pink slime?

Not only can you not read things right but you can't seem to get it that it is the FDA that is allowing pink lime.
