Progs Now Turn To Ruining Our Food

Well, see there's your mistake. You've been badly misled.

Don't stop there. Tell me how I'm wrong.

How about you telling us the ultimate purpose of a food policy ? Is it to make us all happy? More productive? Better looking ?///

The purpose has been laid out here already, especially by luddly, I believe.

State it for me please.

Why is it that RWs can never seem to do their own research? They always need to be spoon fed.

I'm not asking for research---I'm asking for the purpose of having this policy.

We already have labeling standard for food, you pathetic moron.

And where does that info appear on MacDonalds packaging?

Would you say that MOST consumers in Macdonalds know that they are being fed pink slime?
Here's an idea: if you dont want it, dont eat it.
btw, any reliable info on ill effects from eating at McDonalds? Yeah, there is none.

Yes and if you dont know whats in it dont eat it. Now I know that includes 99.9% of the foods available but its the best solution the GOP can come up with.

If you cant look at your food and know that chemicals or bacteria is in it...tough titty. Thats how much they love America

Defund the FDA, destroy the CDC, kick out the EPA, who needs those socialistic bastards. Jams and jellies made with formaldahyde are good for you. Fishless rivers running with shit and chemicals are a sign of progress. And when one catches on fire in the middle of a city, what a show. Oh yeah, we know full well what you people stand for.

What can I tell you?....you believe the government is honest, trustworthy and only does what's best for the people. History disproves that but whatever.

I could never change your mind...

It's hardly about belief. We get the government we deserve. I vote and stay active in monitoring my government so that they have a vested interest in doing what's best for the people.

Ironic post of the day.
No, there are no ill effects from eating at McDonalds. Sure, do that every day you'll have a problem. Eat a cheeseburger at home every day and you'll also have problem. Eat 5 lbs of cheese every day and you'll have problems. But McDonald's made its reputation on offering food that was safe to eat and predictable anywhere you went.
Yeah, your health is your own responsibility. So why do you want the gov't stepping in?

Firstly, you might want to check the meaning of the word 'ironic'.

Secondly, I am not campaigning to ban MacDonalds - I'm just saying that accurate information should be available to consumers.

Remind me who is being denied accurate information about anything.

She'll go right back to the "government is the people" meme the next go around.
They honestly believe this. Libs' hatred of profit and capitalism is so deep they really think non profit corporations are morally superior to for profit ones and that gov't is better than private enterprise.

Serious delusion on your part.

It's NOT ABOUT BELIEF. When the government does, or proposes doing, the right thing, I don't question the motives as something sinister, and dismiss the action out of hand.

But I do keep an eye. We get the government we demand, and if government is held accountable to the people, they have an interest in doing the right thing....FOR the people.

So if a companys main goal is to make money. And according to Republicans the govt goal is more control.

Why do you trust the one and not the other?

PS. Try to answer without using a bumper sticker phrase

Not to mention when a company screws us over the only way to change that is by billions of people demanding change until they decide to do so.

Govt? Vote 'em out

Why do you believe a company who's motivation is money will be more honest than govt?

If you spent less time looking for cute doggy cartoons, you might understand my posts.

I don't know how many times I can say it's not about belief. I don't "believe" anything about the government. I am a realist about it.

ya I read the thread-------Algore says we don't have a national policy for managing American agriculture or the food system as a whole. Well I have news for him----we already have laws up the wazoo that regulate it. If he still thinks we need a "policy" I want to know what will be the desired result of such a policy.

Have you ever heard of a mission statement? A policy is similar to a mission statement.

Laws may be introduced piecemeal as issues come up, but a policy provides a big picture, a framework to use to determine how America wants to handle its legislation about food. It helps ensure a general direction, of what is supported and what is discouraged. Like a country's energy policy.

Peach -

Oh, I'm sure the FAD do allow it. Which is fine with me - providing people know what they are eating.

It is the FEDS who allow it and the FEDS who don't want you to know what you are eating.
Example- they are against letting us know which foods come from other countries and which foods are genetically altered.
Then you all want more government control?
