Slovak was spoken in my home when my parents, aunts and uncles didn`t want us kids to know what they were saying. My grandparents never picked up a whole lot of English but their kids did. None of the grandchildren learned to speak Slovak and that`s the way it works. Nobody assimilates completely overnight. It takes a generation or two.
