  • I'm not sure, but I'll bet that if he was, it was probably George W. Bush's fault.

He was an opportunist and a showman.

And a wannabe pedophile. He had to be monitored when in the girl's bedrooms.

Ummm, I don't think Raspy merely or necessarily wanted to be there.

I think he just kinda was.

But you can't judge someone who lived over a century ago by contemporary social mores.

Or you can: but that'd just be, well, kinda dumb, don't cha think?

Was Laura Ingalls Wilder's husband a pedophile, too?

Whenever I think of good ol' Raspy, I always hear this song playin' in my head:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0ZK1DvTBpw]The Kendalls, Heaven's Just a Sin Away[/ame]

And for those of us who've read extensively about Rasputin and are fascinated with the inimitablility of his persona, it shouldn't be difficult to imagine why.

Matter of fact, the very phrase itself "heaven's just a sin away" indeed sounds like something that Rasputin may have once said — verbatim. That was in fact a paraphrase of the man's existential credo.

"Nearer to the heart of God, the sinner," he once said.
