One of the many reasons healthcare is so expensive is because of our government programs.

Medicare and Medicaid typically pay about 2/3 of the bill for their patients. To recoup this loss, they increase prices. Because it's a law they can't create different pricing for different insurance providers, they have to increase prices on everybody equally.

Losing a third of the bill isn't much for a doctors visit, but not getting a third for a 500K surgery is a pretty hefty loss.

This is why when you see a medical facility close down, it's usually in lower income areas; places where most everybody is a government patient, and there are too few private pay or insurance pay patients to make up the government losses.

So the leftist solution of putting everybody on Medicare isn't feasible. There would be nowhere for the providers to recoup losses. While medical care costs kept increasing, so did insurance premiums to keep up with the bills. However Medicare contributions stayed the same. How did that happen?

If we want to have these social programs (and statistics show we overwhelmingly do) then we have to fund them. Simple as that. The first thing Trump should do is double the Medicare payroll tax. Secondly we should make it law that government has to pay the same as private pay or private insurance.
