A German news agency reported that the Egyptian army arrested a senior Hamas military wing activist on Friday after infiltrating into Egypt from the Gaza Strip through a smuggling tunnel in the Sinai border.

The activist was found carrying sniper weapons, ammunition and a laptop. In recent days, the Egyptian army reported it had arrested dozens of activists belonging to the Salafi organization Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis, which operates in the Sinai Peninsula. (Roi Kais)
