Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said in May that he’d written off votes from 47 percent of Americans who are collecting government aid. Turns out many of them are part of his political base.

Seventy percent of counties with the fastest-growth in food-stamp aid during the last four years voted for the Republican presidential candidate in 2008, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data compiled by Bloomberg.

Sheesh... Everyone suffers under Obama's.. ahh leadership (?)

Except his chosen corporate/finance fat cats and rich Democrats contributors..

The reason that Republican regions use more foodstamps is that they have been hit the hardest economically. Thanks to progressive loons, their primary sources of income...from resource development, industry, etc., have dried up. Progressives pool all their resources in the areas where they live..the cities. And they take everything that everybody else has in order to feed that.

So when they are looking for money, they reach out and take it from those areas that don't support them.

They shut down logging, in order to protect the forests for their enjoyment. They shut down fishing, they shut down mining, they shut down drilling, they shut down building.

And all the working people (Republicans) starve or are forced onto the dole.

^^ Bullshit. The reason is because the GOP trolls are lazy good for nothing leeches whos just is to sit on their lazy asses all day watching fox and bitching about "da libs" as the reason for their pathetic existence.

And, now, they're all whining about it.

Witness, this board.

What is wrong with these moochers? They want food stamps and unemployment, they vote for politicians like Etch a Sketch and Lyin Ryan who look right at them while laughing at them and now they're whining because they LOST.

I applaud Obama for not letting Republican-heavy counties starve to death following the Great Bush Recession. Bush should be thankful.

No, it's not.

How much do you think the Chief and blacklabel get in foodstamps a month combined?

The city dwelling welfare recipients are the welfare stars. Welfare recipients in the country have to at least get off their greasy asses to forage for wood to heat their homes...you losers just call a number and heat magically appears.

And then there's the fact that there really aren't any jobs to be had across the greater expanse of the country. Hard to find even an entry-level position in a country that has historically made money from logging, when there is no logging allowed.

But there are always jobs in teh cities...so one wonders, why is it that the inner city dwellers, who elected the Foodstamp King, can't get jobs? They even have free public transportation available to them....in bluegill, ND there is no public bus system; so even if they could get bus passes, they're screwed.

link? what about appalachia?

The OP is a real peice of shit work..

Well, one must be descerning.

Seventy percent of counties with the fastest-growth in food-stamp aid during the last four years voted for the Republican presidential candidate in 2008, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data compiled by Bloomberg. They include Republican strongholds like King County, Texas, which in 2008 backed Republican John McCain by 92.6 percent, his largest share in the nation; and fast-growing Douglas County, Colorado.

King County Texas has a population of 255 people with 0% below poverty level

Douglas County Colorado has a population of about 300,000 with only 3% below the poverty level.

Clearly these are examples where poverty is very low, and any "growth?" in food stamp aid would be extraordinary.

As usual, Lakota's thread is so remarkably bias, it is difficult to ever assign even the smallest degree of credability to anything he posts.

I started a long thread long ago about red state/blue state comparisons which dealt with this issue on many levels and used the conservative Tax Foundation stats to show how the red states were sucking the government tit dry.

Now, all we need to do is find anyone who gives a fuck about the treads you start.

Thanks for playing.

The growth in food stamps could still be high, numbnuts, and IS. And in thousands of other rural red counties, my guess. In mega rich red state strongholds like Al., Miss, and OK etc. Truth is, most of your beliefs about the GOP are myth. Rich a-holes and silly dupes...

The issue is really are they fact averse. A normal person who is lied to and uses those lies to make a fool out of himself would get pissed off about those sources and turn against them, but these right-wingers on the internet will post the same lie again after it's been refuted and proven false. That sound to me like someone who knows it's a lie and just doesn't care. Lies are their way of promoting their agenda, so I don't see them as fact averse, I just see them as liars. There could be a rare exception case once in awhile, but when people are refuted for years and still post the same propaganda, it's evident the truth means nothing to them.

Republican politicians want to keep poor Republicans broke and misinformed. It's the only way to keep them living in fear and under control so that they will keep voting for them.

Without fearful, poor Republicans, who's going to fill their minimum wage factories and fight their wars?

I've little doubt that Hispanics and blacks(Obama voters) account for the majority. Another Obama success story.

Proof that NaziCons are the big moochers. No surprise.

It doesn't prove anything. Every place has a mix of both parties and a whole lot of people who don't follow politics and have no leaning one way or the other. Until you produce a poll showing the actual party of most welfare recipients, you need to stop making these huge leaps. Poor people are everywhere these days, and part of the thanks goes to Obama's job killing policies.
