Republicans have awoken a SLEEPING Giant.

The protest is WAY bigger than the inauguration.
Over half million in DC alone. Over 5 million in 300 cities across the country. 80,000 to 100,000 in London and demonstrations and march around the world. Although this will have little impact on Trump, it will certain be on the minds of legislators up for election in 2 years.

Most certainly. Trump's mandates are GONE. They're going to tape his mouth shut, cut off his tweety fingers and stick him in a closet for the next two years.

We're going to be seeing a lot of agreement between Democrats & Republicans in both houses.

You can color the "conservative" U.S. Supreme court nominee GONE right now. Ain't gonna happen.

He just wrote an E. O. Destroying obamacare and you think he will shut up?
The order was not specific and did not direct any particular actions. Although only congress can dismantle the law, both the president and congress will have to deal with the aftermath.

The inauguration Honeymoon is definitely over the day after. Denver Colorado, woman's march estimated crowd size 40,000. This is going on all over the country, by the time it's over there will be more protesters that showed up, than the number of people that showed up for Trump's inauguration.

If Comrade Trump refuses to allow a subpoena regarding his income tax returns--or in anyway tries to block these investigations, by default he's only admitting guilt in association with the Putin to do cyber attack on the United States to help him win. The media would have a hay-day with that one.

Plus you have investigative reporters working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week looking for that Pulitzer Prize, that Trump can't stop.

The entire senate, including Republicans are demanding a full investigation into this. Trump and his supporters have made a lot of Republican enemies on the hill, and they aren't going to come a running in to save his ass. The only ones that will speak out for him, will be the physco-babble interpreters he has surrounded himself with through-out this campaign. Especially when it comes to Russian interference into our democracy of free and fair elections. We can't have foreign adversary's picking and choosing our Presidents for us. They are ALL pissed.

The law remains until congress repeals it and the administration must carry out the law. You can bet the administration is not going to do anything that denies coverage under Obamacare or makes it difficult to get insurance which would put pressure on Republicans in congress. The only way to kill Obamacare is to repeal the law and that is not what congress is doing. They are cutting budget allocations for parts of law that fund items such as Medicaid and subsidies. The remaining parts of the law will remain in effect utill congress comes up with new legislation.

Very true. You can't just repeal Obamacare leaving millions that were forced onto this program without insurance overnight. They will have to come up with a new plan, write the law for it, put it out to insurers in this country so they can adjust their policies to suit it.

This is what Paul Ryan and the house will be doing for the next 2 years. Because that's how long it took to get Obamacare. The difference is--Obama had a full filibuster (super majority) in both houses, Republicans don't. So it's going to be a battle. And they have two years to get this done before 2018.

One thing that disturbs me, is they still haven't come up with a way to reduce the cost of medical cost-which drives the premiums---so they may be changing one from disaster just to enter into another one.

Bfd. Women aren't even united enough to elect a woman president. In fact women hate other women so much they voted for trump.

Trump got 46℅ of the woman vote
Thanks for the excellent example of the LW war on women. Maybe your attitude is why so many women did vote for Trump: Because they knew they'd be treated like shit by the DNC.
You see them protesting trump? They should be protesting against the 46℅ of women who voted for trump, not trump.

Maybe they should be protesting all those people who didn't vote at all...the ones who cost Hillary the election.

Poor woman....is she really thinking of putting up with the kind of abuse again in 2020 ?

Hillary's ship has both sailed and sunk. It's mostly grandma time for her. A couple of books and high-priced speaking engagements to keep her in pantsuits and $10,000 purses.

Good idea since driving a motorized wheelchair while drunk is considered a DUI in many states.

You know, had they all voted, they could have prevented this from happening in the first place. I wonder what percentage of the unhappy simply failed to make their voice heard when they had the opportunity?

Sounds a lot like complaining that you got a late fee on a credit card bill because you didn't make the payment.

Cool it's about time the progressive numbskulls woke up from their slumber, now on to step 2; the return trip from LeftWingATopia back to reality.

Take a look at the Consumer Price Index covering 10 years. The problem is not the increase costs in delivering healthcare but the cost of insurance. Look at the costs of delivering healthcare in the 5 years prior to Obamacare and the following years. Before Obamacare yearly average increases in healthcare costs over 5 years was 3.8%. The yearly average cost after Obamacare was 2.9%. The rate of increase in medical costs actually went down. Keep in mind this does not include the cost of insurance. So it would seem the problem is not an increase in what healthcare providers are charging but rather what insurance companies are charging their customers.

CPI-Health-Care-Inflation-2005-2015.jpg

Since the problem is not the increase in what healthcare providers are charging, then why is the cost of health insurance rising? The simplest answer would be Obamacare. However, that doesn't tell us very much. To understand the situation, you have to realize there are two separate markets for healthcare insurance in the US, employer sponsored plans and individual plans.

  • Most employer sponsored plans have changed very little due to Obamacare. Over 90% of the essential services in Obamacare were included in employer plans before Obamacare. A very high percentage of employer plans accepted people with pre-exiting conditions so that was not a major cost factor for most plans. However, the law required employers to extend coverage to other than full time employees plus elimination of options such as maternity coverage which saved money for those who did not need the coverage. Also, the family use of free preventive services have increased significantly. Finally, many employers have pushed the additional costs for both the employee and the employer onto the employee.
  • Individual plans prior to the Obamacare were very expensive. Cost was controlled by eliminating much of the coverage one found in employer sponsored plans, setting much higher deductibles than allowed today, exclusion of pre-existing conditions, and setting yearly and lifetime maximums on benefits. All of this went away with Obamacare. The result was a combination of higher premiums and higher deductibles. Subsidies made these affordable for those with a low income but the high deductible made the plans unusable for common medical expenses.

A replacement plan for Obamacare that does not increase the number of uninsured and reduces costs without significant reduction in benefits is going to be tough. Obamacare is costly, not because of regulations, waste, and inefficiency but because of the amount of additional healthcare coverage being provided. If the new law provides the same amount of coverage, someone is going to have to pay, the public, employers, or government, none of which will be exceptionable to congress.

U.S. Health Care Costs Rise Faster Than Inflation

My experience is that people that march in protests in places like D.C. New York, Denver, and Seattle in the middle of January, vote. It may seem that the marches are unorganized and just a bunch people out to have a good time, but that simply is not the case. People that take off work or school, travel many miles to walk in the cold for hours certainly take 30 minutes every couple of years to vote.
