Senate Bill Would Limit Early Absentee Voting Hours

Opponents of SB324, a bill that would curtail absentee voting hours, say the measure is an attack on large urban areas like Milwaukee.

The Republican-backed legislation would limit early voting to 45 hours per week on weekdays only for the two weeks before an election. Weekend voting would no longer take place.

In the 2012 presidential election, 35,000 people in Milwaukee voted early: all of them had to come downtown to the city's municipal building or City Hall.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says by trying to cut back early voting hours, it appears Republicans want to frustrate people into not voting.

“The goal is to just jam up the city of Milwaukee and other large municipalities,” Barrett said. “Let's just jam it up and have people frustrated and leave the polls.”

Will Republicans finally admit it's not about "ID's"? Will they finally come clean and admit that Americans don't like their policies of screwing over the middle class and the poor? The only way a party that's 90% white can win is to cheat? Some Republicans admit it, but will USMB Republicans ever stand up and admit the truth?

Over the past 6 years our government has developed a 3rd world mentality. Somebody has to do something -- don't they?!

Not the government, the Republicans.

Republican, Democrat, the differences are marginal to insignificant, two factions in the same criminal gang.

So do, in a very real and tangible sense, non-naturalized, possibly hostile to US interest foreigners who are major stockholders in companies via Citizen's United.

Every member of the Supreme Court who voted in this travesty is either incompetant or susceptible to bribery/treason. How can any Justice interpret the Constitution to include eradicating the naturalization process and ushering in such a potent and accessible back door for our enemies to manipulate American Government? No wonder Putin is running roughshod over our backs and will continue to do so. We have a cadre of bubbleheaded narcissists susceptible to every selfish influence running this country as never before. We might as well hang a sign around the Statue of Liberty saying "come on in and take what you like; nobody's going to stop you".

Evidently you know nothing of big city (Democrat) machine politics. No politician of any stripe cares about the system or the citizens ... only the machine and their own pockets.
I wonder if the decline of our major cities is a function of decades of Demo rule or if the Dems are elected because the cities are failing.
Either way, Detroit is just the tip of the next economic catastrophe.

Dems could start rounding up groups as they did with the japanese internment camps in the 1940's and rdean would be cool with it.

This is telling in that – whether republicans are aware of it or not – the GOP is admitting that they can’t win elections on their positions on the issues alone, and must resort to schemes designed to place an undue burden on the right to vote to indeed win elections.

good grief, it "appears" Republicans want to frustrate people into not voting?

what is with you democrats? you think people are too stupid to adapt to new voting regulations

Nope. It has to do with personnel placement at the various voting precincts or places where the vote is held.

And yet there are record corporate profits. Go figure.

Personally, I think the Federal Government, for the most part, should stay out of how the States set up their voting procedures and laws.

C'mon, CJ ... I know you are smarter than that.
Big city Dem machines have for decades used the city coffers to lubricate their chosen ones (labor unions, minorities, etc) at the expense of their city's future. Now, thanks to crumbling infrastructures, declining revenues and populations, and the pension bomb, there are more Detroits in our future.

just different methods of going about it.....but you will never convince someone like Dean of that.....he wont even question the Democrats.....he could overhear Obama and Co. plotting a Coup.....he would think it has to be for the best, and wont say anything....
