I made a thread about how fucked up those bills were. It was beyond absurd. As long as you acknowledge that when a Republican administration did the PPP --- they didn't have much oversight...Do you have a link to it having more oversight? This bill has more oversight -- as for the previous stimulus; Republicans fought tooth and nail to limit oversight over dispersing of funds....How are they going to be dispersing funds this time around? Thats what screwed over the mom and pop shops. The gop ignores that it's own stimulus bills gave more to the more wealthy and totally fucked over mom and pop's for corporate welfare (and Muchin Trump and McConnell planned)Ron Johnson forces Senate clerks to read entire COVID relief bill out loud
It took nearly 11 hours for the clerks to read the 628 page proposal, delaying the start of the Senate debate.www.10tv.com
"Senate Democrats were hoping to kick off debate Thursday on their $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief plan, but first had to make it through a Republican senator's hours-long delay tactic. Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson went through with his plan to to make Senate clerks read out loud the entire 628 page COVID-19 relief bill before the chamber can begin debate.
The next step comes Friday. The Senate will convene at 9 a.m. for three hours of debate. After that will be what's known as the "vote-a-rama" of amendments. Senate Republicans are reportedly considering dragging that process out into the overnight hours. In a tweet, Johnson estimated the full reading of the bill could take 10 hours. According to Politico, Senate Democratic leaders estimated it would take four to five hours. The Senate clerk began reading the bill at 3:21 p.m. Eastern. The clerks took turns reading it out loud. They wrapped up at 2:04 a.m. Friday -- 10 hours, 43 minutes."
Sen. Johnson was totally right; it did take 10 hours...lol.....he totally triggered those Senate staffers on this one.....serves the Dems right; after all, they are the ones who tried to stall and block the first COVID relief bill after the Republicans worked so hard to write it and get it passed in the House and Senate; in order to help working Americans and small businesses...
This bill only has 5% approval with Americans (If you don't count the other 65%) -- so the Republican calculation on this is right -- No one wants some socialist $1400 checks, No one wants any deficit busting vaccine money, No one wants your Nazi style funding of state governments; and no one wants any of these Chinese communist $3000 child tax credits and the rest of it....Reps are bravely trying to drag this out and hopefully stop this far left radical take over of our country....
And in an effort to get more middle ground support, Biden pissed off his left wing over min wage, and they've more accurately targeted the stimulus to those who actually need money to spend. And it strikes me as more than ironic that my daughter, who really does need the money, STILL hasn't gotten ANY of her stimulus. It may have more stimulus than absolutley necessary. But it's not a time to go small. The GOP didn't go small with its tax cuts that were aimed at increasing growth to 4%, and is STILL resulting in less revenue.
The gop is betting on most Americans eventually being against the stimulus, and they came to view the Trump/McConnell tax cuts. And the gop is trying to convince those making 40K that this is not in their interests. And the previous two didn't help my kid beyond what we could still afford to send her, because the gop never actually sent the money.
And much of what is in this COVID package was in the CARES ACT -- which republicans voted for......
They are voting against it because the guy who can ultimately take credit for the bill has a D next to his name.....
Among the changes will be a new rule that encourages smaller businesses to get loans instead of before when large businesses vacuumed up the loans because of their relationships with the banks...
Also....oversight that sees to it small contractors and self-employed people get access to PPP funds instead of how they were treated before...
And also a Second Chance rule that allows small business owners with non-felony convictions on their background to get PPP funding...they were barred before....
Do you have a problem with these changes??
Are these oversight measures communist to you??
Biden administration announces changes to the PPP, stimulus program for small businesses
The Biden administration announced a series of changes to the Paycheck Protection Program, the stimulus program that has offered forgivable loans to businesses around the country since the coronavirus pandemic began.www.yahoo.com
They just let the banks do what they wanted and the smaller guy got screwed.
Obviously, it isnt close to communism. It is, however, unconstitutional.
