But the guy then told the jury in opening arguments that Trump was on trial in part for election interference. But there is no such charge in the indictment.

The Supreme Court has ruled that no mention of a crime not charged can be mentioned. Trump's attorneys objected to this.

And judge Marchan laughed it off and permitted this clear violation of Trump rights.

This is of course so Marchan can get as quick a conviction as possible so Democrats can tout Trump as a felon.

This opening act is itself solid grounds for overturning any guilty verdict. But that takes time, and Dems will get what they want if Trump is convicted.
