The Soviet Union was into mass murder, that Putin thinks the fall of the Soviet Union was a 'bad thing' says it all about how twisted and departed from reality the Russian elite really are.

Soviet communists made the Islamic world look benign in comparison to their treatment of LGBT people or political dissidents.

They were focused into crushing individuality, and biological and cultural differences. Stalin funded experiments in an attempt to figure out how to brainwash human beings into being obedient dogs.

Russian society will fall in on itself again soon enough, but not before they run over the rights of millions more people. Putin's Russia is just as corrupt and inefficient as its Soviet counterpart, except it is just decentralized through oligarchs.
