To build a solar farm in California thousands of 100 year old Joshua trees and tortoise habitat will be destroyed so rich people who live almost 200 miles away can have green power. Now they can feel good about saving the environment for our wildlife.

A new solar power project that will break ground in the Mojave Desert, near two Kern County towns in California, will require thousands of Joshua trees (Yucca brevifolia) to be removed. The project is also expected to destroy a habitat for desert tortoises (Gopherus agassizii), California’s state reptile and a threatened species.

So now wealthy coastal elites can have their exclusive wine and cheese parties and feel good about doing their part to save the planet.

Joshua trees are not in the least endangered.

Tortoises are. Can you read?

In California a home owner would get fined big time by government for removing Joshua trees from his property and destroying a tortoise habitat.
