San Diego University professors say that farmers markets are "white spaces that oppress minorities"

Why would you show up when you can't afford the product?
Our farmers market is cheaper than the grocery store.
How is that oppression anyways? Lol how stupid

The pictures I googled for 'Texas farmers markets' had much higher prices than grocery stores.
did you google local grocery prices as well?
Again, how is that oppression anyways?

The issue is 'Texas farmers markets.' I googled for images, all white people.
The OP is about farmers markets in general, i believe. Not just Tx.
How are they oppressive anyways? You keep dodging that question.

This is the post I was answering.....

All of those pics are in Texas.
And since I live in the most diverse county in America I feel I have a better understanding of the situation than you do.

Then why was the location code of your pictures that you posted removed?

And 99% of the people were white.

You know, I've gone to farmer's markets here in Amarillo, as well as the local flea market on the weekends.

Yes. There are African Americans there. There are also Hispanics and other minorities that shop there as well. It's not just whites.

And, I can also tell you that most farmers markets that I've ever been to have been cheaper than what you can buy in the grocery store.

If you're thinking of gentrification and all white shoppers, then think Whole Foods where everything is expensive.

I often confuse the farmers market with a white nationalist rally.

You know.................another question that I have..............

Most farmer's markets that I have been to didn't have permanent buildings, they all had booths that were put up on Fridays and taken down on Sundays, usually in large empty lots or fields.

If they aren't building permanent buildings, and are only there on the weekends a few months out of the year (remember, farmer's markets sell fresh stuff that is seasonal so they are only a couple of months a year), how is that "gentrifying" or "taking over" a place?

The issue is people that buy from a farmers markets, NOT people that work there. Nice try though!
