California Makes America's Economy Great

If the state were stacked up against nations, California would be the seventh-largest economy, with an equivalent gross domestic product greater than Brazil's. It's not just big, but also booming. California had a 3.29 percent growth rate last year, more than five times that of No. 3 Japan, almost twice No. 4 Germany, about half again as much as No. 5 U.K., almost three times No. 6 France and a third more than No. 1 U.S.

HAHAHA. CA is bankrupt you fool. 40 years ago it was great but now it's a sewer.
It's 5th biggest economy in the world. LOL

Based on data tabulated by Bloomberg, the third largest city in California, which is also the epicenter of Silicon Valley, has become the wealthiest metropolitan area in the country.

The publication analyzed data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis on 100 of the biggest metropolitan areas.
1. San Jose - $105,482

2. Bridgeport - $94,349

3. San Francisco - $80,643

4. Seattle - $75,874

5. Boston - $74,746

SF Mayor Lee stands up to Trump, says city remains a sanctuary

jan 25 2017 Mayor Ed Lee said Wednesday that San Francisco will not allow its immigrant residents “to live in fear” and affirmed the city’s 27-year-old sanctuary city policy, one hour after President Trump announced a crackdown on immigrants living in the country without permission and promising to cut federal funding to sanctuary cities.

“I am here today to say we are still a sanctuary city,” Lee said Wednesday at a City Hall news conference after Trump signed executive orders at the White House. “We stand by our sanctuary city because we want everybody to feel safe and utilize the services they deserve, including education and health care. ... It is my obligation to keep our city united, keep it strong ... crime doesn’t know documentation. Disease doesn’t know documentation.”

San Francisco’s sanctuary policy is among the most expansive in the country, limiting local law enforcement’s cooperation with federal immigration agents in all but the most extreme circumstances. While Trump has singled out the city for criticism, all of the counties and bigger cities in the Bay Area offer some protection to immigrants in the country without authorization. Legal experts said they expected lawsuits from cities challenging Trump’s order.

Just have all international guest workers register with schools or programs agreeing to sponsor them.
As long as legitimate sponsors agree to take legal and financial responsibility, the city or state
can take on as many as they can afford to manage legally without imposing any risk or burden to others.
Why not encourage this to be done legally, so that all guests know to go through the proper channels?

Emily, most of the Blue Wall is sliding towards state bankruptcy and the mayors picked this issue to try and shift the blame. If not this particular issue then another would be chosen. When CA and IL go bankrupt most of state party will go to jail or be voted out of office forever.

Why Trump might not stop sanctuary cities: The Constitution

For their part, law enforcement officials in many sanctuary cities say their policies protect the public’s safety. As Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser said in a statement: “We are a sanctuary city because we know that our neighborhoods are safer and stronger when no one is afraid to call on our government for help, and when our police can focus on protecting and serving."

US courts, too, have taken a skeptical view of the assertion of federal power over local police departments. The Supreme Court in a 1997 gun rights case ruled that local police can’t be treated as de facto federal agents. Many Republicans applauded that ruling as a major states’ rights victory.

I bought my home 25 years ago, otherwise I couldn't afford it here..but the cost of living is out of this world.

Homeless shelters have 6 month wait list...

By the way most state pensions in the blue wall are Ponzi schemes as defined by federal law. that's where the jail time will come from.

Yep, CALPERS is sinking fast and the whole house of cards is ready to implode.

The big question is whether the relevant US attorneys have standing in regards to this intentional defraudment. most of the Blue state politicians better hope so

.

State officials are violating a federal law. Section 1324 of Title 8 of the US code makes it a federal felony to encourage illegals to live here. Don't tell us, the feds cannot enforce their own laws. The constitution says the president is required to do so!!! THINK

It's my understanding that often the feds are not demanding that police go out and arrest illegals, merely turn them over to the feds when they arrest them.

The story in San Fran is a case in point.

Suspect in San Francisco woman's death deported 5 times - CNN.com

"The man accused of firing the deadly shot -- 45-year-old Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez -- is an undocumented immigrant, a repeat felon who has been deported five times to Mexico, according to immigration officials.

It would have been six, a federal law enforcement source told CNN, except authorities in San Francisco wanted him on a drug-related warrant. So U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which had Lopez-Sanchez in its custody in March after his release from federal prison, turned him over to San Francisco deputies. ICE said they requested an immigration detainer, asking that the agency be notified before Lopez-Sanchez was released.

But San Francisco is a city that doesn't honor such requests and the sheriff's department released him. Freya Horne, chief legal counsel to the San Francisco County Sheriff, told CNN that he was let go because there was no legal cause to detain the suspect."

Hey if he wants the city he runs to go bankrupt, that's his business.

Yup. Lets see how long the taxpayers in that city want to pay higher taxes to make up for no Fed funding just so some illegal aliens have a home.

Bet it won't take long before they are screaming bloody murder at the SF Govt.

It going to be fun watching the Trump admin teach these liberal mayors a lesson. I haven't stopped laughing and cheering since he took office.

CA contributes more than it gets from the federal government. How about your state?
