Sanders: Universal Healthcare and Free College Aren’t Radical Ideas, They Are ‘Human Rights’

If the GOP isn't careful, it might lose on the universal healthcare point alone. The GOP and capitalists are the ones anyway that Universal Healthcare stands to help the most. People who don't have to spend the equivalent of a second mortgage on premiums and deductables, have more free capital to buy goods from the big corporations. Unless the 1% all owns controlling stock in healthcare and pharmaceuticals. Surely there must be some oil or entertainment magnates who are alarmed at their losses in recent years. If nobody can buy things, the rich get poorer. Universal Healthcare is a magic bullet for dems and republican rich alike. More businesses hire more people, having to spend less (naught) on healthcare for employees. More people earning in income means more consuming.

Rich? Are you listening?... Grab this one concept and run with it. Let the dems just have the free college thing. See what the public likes more in 2016, free college or free healthcare. Keep the premium care for you folks. You can buy your own league of private MDs and surgeons. Just let the working class have the basics and pay for it with taxes at the cash register on sugared foods, booze and tobacco; the three main killers.

Bernie thinks that the government know how to spend your money better than you do.
So with that in mind this corrupt little socialist will find a way to tax you at the highest percentage he can get away with.

Bernie and his supporters are a bunch of clueless dumbasses

Both men are right. The problem is Bernie's solution for this problem, is socialism for all Americans...which is just another way of saying make government as big and powerful as humanly possible. What could go wrong?

Bull crap. That entire statement is 100% wrong. Both are wrong. There was was not a single supportable claim there.

Bernie is a socialist and that's how socialists think.

Of course he neglects to let everyone know that nothing is free and every taxpayer in America will be footing the bill for his "free" Stuff.

Of course those that can't pay their own way will love it but the taxpayers will be getting the shaft yet again.

Oh and as for universal health care?? Who in their right mind wants the Government responsible for the healthcare of 300 million Americans?

The Govt. who has never done anything cheaply or well in its entire history.

The Govt. where everything turns into mountains of red tape, regulations and bullshit.

Yep. That's what we need. The Govt. in control of our health care. Good God. Talk about a moronic idea.

Hard to believe you got 7 thank yous for those comments. The government has been heavily involved in health care for many years. It's the health insurance companies that have destroyed our system. The most expensive system in the world offering mediocre outcomes. Every other government in the advanced world handles health care.

This is exactly why ACA is such bad policy.

Yes, that's why the cost has risen so much faster than inflation.

It's funny. I keep hearing that excuse as a reason for even more government intervention. Is that like drinking more to get past a hangover?

You may not have understood the context of the statement.

The wealthy like socialism because socialism is big government...and most of the wealthy get their wealth from big government....aka crony capitalism, the wealthy and connected exploit big gov to enrich and empower themselves.

The rest of us are subject to fending for ourselves, hence we are subject to the laws of rugged individualism. The middle class working hard to make peanuts and the poor receiving government handouts, that are less than peanuts.

A common misconception promoted by the media and DNC, is the wealthy are greedy conservative capitalists. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you believe that lie, you need to get informed.

Wrong. First off, many wealthy folks come here because we have the best care in the world. It's because doctors could make big bucks that they come here to learn and work.

What makes it more expensive is this is also the land of lawsuits and doctors/hospitals constantly battle malpractice suits, even if they did the best they could. That jacks insurance way up. Also they practice defensive medicine to guard against it so every test they can think of is run. Plus the government red tape is astronomical and they need the staff to deal with it. Too much government screwed it up and even more government isn't a fix for it.

I have no idea why dimwits keep saying, "Mediocre care." They must not go to doctors much. I can't remember ever having gone to the doctor or hospital for something, and even considering that OF COURSE my problem wasn't going to be fixed and my body not made healthy again.

That being said, obviously one shops for the best quality with this, as with anything else expensive and important. NOT the time for bargain-hunting.

What makes it more expensive is this is also the land of lawsuits and doctors/hospitals constantly battle malpractice suits,

malpractice is only about 3% of our health care cost. Health care in general is super expensive for same reason everything was super expensive in Red China before the switch to Republican capitalism.

No, I'm sorry, but that is just flat out wrong. Some, a few of the wealthy, get their wealth from Government. The vast vast majority get their wealth, by producing wealth.

The CEO of Walmart, started off, working as a part time seasonal worker, unloading trucks for Walmart during the summer. He did not become wealthy because of government. He became wealthy because he worked his way up the corporate ladder, taking on whatever job he was offered. Working his butt off.

The CEO of my last company, was a low level Engineer for Micro Electronics. When the local branch "Micro-Com" was being sold off, he mortgaged his home, and staked everything he had on buying it. Now he's a millionaire. Government didn't give him his wealth. 20 years of working for Micro Electronics, saving up money from his blood and sweat, and taking the huge risk of staking everything on buying this branch, made him wealthy.

And Micro Electronics, by the way, was built by two guys that started off as low level employees of Radio Shack stores. Government didn't make them wealthy. Their hard work and effort did.

You are wrong. Sanders and King were wrong. All that garbage, is just crap.

Generally speaking, the only people that are made wealthy by government, are the people in government, and those that work socialist projects. Like green energy funding. Yeah, if you hand out money for government projects, that socialists support, not capitalists, then yes, they get wealthy off of government. But that's a dozen wealthy, out of millions.

No. Have car insurance companies destroyed the entire system? Have life insurance companies destroyed the entire system? House insurance? There is no such thing as a perfect system, but I think most intelligent people will get that insurance works pretty well through the economy outside health care.

And most of those areas are far less regulated than health insurance.... by a long shot.

Government is the source of all the problems. Insurance companies, are an effect of the governments meddling.

so true, for example, libturd govt does not let insurance compete across state lines. Imagine the auto industry if each state had to manufacture its own cars!! Thats how stupid liberals are

Wrong. This is your wake up call.

I am talking about the billionaire class, not people who work hard every day building a business...and remember Big Ears said, You didn't build that...

People like Gates, Soros, Buffet, Facebook dork, Google creeps, etc....these jackasses are socialists. These people support leftism and leftist pols...in effect, they own the political class, but the pols like Big Ears expects them to give him lots of money and be out spoken promoters of socialism then BO extends government protection to their interests. Think of it as being EXACTLY like the Mafia.

Read this column. It spells it well.
Why are So Many Rich People Liberals?

Absolutely. I'm a patient at the world famous Cleveland Clinic, and I can tell you that when you walk into their main campus downtown, you feel like the foreigner. It's like going to the UN or something there's so many caregivers from other countries.

One of the biggest problems with our insurance cost is the government. Government only pays around 2/3 of the cost for the care of their patients. Doctors and hospitals have to recoup that loss somewhere, and that somewhere is private pay patients and those with insurance. Those institutions that don't have a substantial percentage of private insured patients close down because they can't make up the loss anywhere. This is particularly true with facilities in low-income areas.

So the first step is to decide if we want Medicare and Medicaid. If we do, then we have to fund it. We have to double the deduction from our paychecks to support Medicare. We have to increase taxes somewhere to support Medicaid. That would keep insurance rates from increasing so much.

Well if you rob Peter to pay Paul, the Paul's of your society generally have no objection.
