Settlement in Principle Reached in Ashli Babbitt Lawsuit — The Young Woman Gunned Down in US Capitol on Jan. 6 – CRAZED BIDEN JUDGE Starts Screaming i

Fascist? She was shot by LE who was holding a gun, yelling at her to stop as she was leading a violent mob through an opening
That's a total fabrication, Dante. Michael Byrd never yelled a warning before he shot Babbitt. Not a word!!!

He defended the capital against a mob during an insurrection
Unarmed protesters were going to destroy the Capitol? That's laughable. Michael Byrd didn't defend anything except an empty hallway. He shot an unarmed female protester without warning...about as cowardly an act as I've seen in a long, long time! That's something that he'll have to live with. He knows that he did wrong...it's why he lied about it when he claimed to have issued a warning before he pulled the trigger.

No way of knowing what they were going to do. Bottoms line so they shouldn’t have been there doing what they were doing. It was a threat

So you admit that Byrd had no way of knowing what they were going to do...yet he took it upon himself to shoot to kill an unarmed female protester "just in case" she might be violent later? Is that what you're going with, Slade?

Under that kind of logic Police should shoot most protesters because they might become violent later on. Right? (eye roll)

And this ladies and gentleman is the crux of their argument which ignores the CONTEXT of the day and the operational environment that Lt. Byrd was in as he held the thin blue line.
  • There were reports of violence of the radio net.
  • Some members of the mob were armed. (Yes melee weapons such as baseball bats, flag poles, battons, and using helmets and shields as weapons.)
  • There were reports over the radio net of officers down.
  • There was an earlier report over the radio network that the rioters had fired a gun, this was later proved to be false - but in the context of the time Lt. Byrd didn't know that. The false nature of the transmission was determined after the fact.
  • Lt. Byrd watched as the violent mob used the weapons they carried to attack and breech the barrier prior to access to the House Chamber (whose door was only steps away).
Lt. Byrds actions that day in holding the line, not panicking, a single controlled shot center of mass and shocking the mob for critical seconds until reinforcements in the form of the SWAT team coming up the stairs likely saved lives that day. Without that critical pause in the advance of the violent mob, they'd have breached the House Chamber and then you would have had multiple officers forced to open fire to prevent death or seriously bodily injury to those in the House Chamber.

The CONTEXT is not "Well - she was later found to not be armed and her backpack didn't have an explosive device." The CONTEXT is armed violent mob that had just broken through the last barrier before gaining access to the House and the real fear of serious personal injury or death or the protection of others from serious personal injury or death.

What's laughable about Byrd's claim that he had to shoot is that there was literally a fully armed SWAT team standing in the stairwell six feet behind Babbitt. Gee, do you think an unarmed group of protesters were really a danger to anyone when a half dozen highly trained officers armed with automatic weapons are watching them? Duh?

You save lives by taking a life? Interesting concept.
That doorway was not the last barrier. There was yet another doorway leading into the House Chamber behind which stood men with drawn guns. In what world would an unarmed group of protesters pose a threat to anyone still left in that chamber?

So you've got a heavily armed SWAT team behind the protesters...you've got armed agents inside the doors to the House Chamber...but an idiot named Michael Byrd decides he needs to fire his weapon to protect an empty hallway? Needs to shoot someone at point blank range without warning? THAT is the "operational environment" that Byrd was working in that day! Who rewards that guy with a promotion?

Different door.

You can tell because of the placement of the chairs. This picture comes from the rear of the House Chamber where there was preparation for a different mob/breach.

This is the door just steps beyond the barricade into the "Speaker's Lobby", the hallway the mob breached.

And what happened when someone tried to breach that "different" door? They were warned VERBALLY that they would be shot if they tried to come in by law enforcement that weren't gun happy idiots and they went away. It's the exact same thing that would have happened if anyone else was trying to break down any other door into the House. Look at that picture! There are 8...count them...8 officers to guard one door with guns. The truth is that the members of Congress were safer in the Capitol building that day than they'd be walking down a street in DC! There was no reason for Byrd to fire his weapon. He's the same idiot that shot up his neighborhood though and left his gun in a public restroom! He's the fuck up that was on the DC Brady List! That's who Michael Byrd is!

When did the protesters "breach" the hallway? They weren't even through that outer barrier yet and the House Chamber was mostly cleared of everyone but law enforcement. So Michael Byrd defended an empty hallway with deadly force to keep protesters from getting to another doorway guarded by armed Secret Service personnel into a chamber that was about to be empty! That's who your "HERO" is!

And if Babbitt had retreated back out the window, following both the verbal command by Lt. Byrd and the shouted "GUN!", "GUN!" by other protesters she wouldn't have been shot either.

Which highlights what I said earlier. Because one brave law enforcement officer held the thin blue line and fired a single controlled shot stopping the violent mob in it's tracks, that violent mob didn't breach the House Chamber.

If they had there would have been more protesters shot.

Thank you Lt. Byrd for doing your duty that day.

Would you care to show ANY video where Michael Byrd can be heard issuing a "verbal command"? He didn't say a word. The shouted warnings came from protesters who saw what he was about to do. Assassinate someone without warning.

So what you're claiming is that Michael Byrd prevented a breach of the House Chamber? That if he didn't shoot an unarmed female protester without warning that the armed men in the Chamber and the heavily armed SWAT team that was standing right there wouldn't have been able to handle the situation without bloodshed? Care to explain why when the other door to the chamber was breached nobody on the inside felt the need to shoot? Why THEY issued a warning when Byrd didn't feel the need?

Why out of all of the violent clashes between law enforcement and protesters...there was only one man who pulled the trigger on his weapon?

The explanation for that is the reason why Byrd was on DC's Brady List! He was an idiot. A screw up that DA's didn't want testifying on the stand EVER because defense attorney's would have a field day with his record of incompetence!

Hypothetical question. Let’s say a large angry mob was outside your home trying to break in. They are pounding on the doors and breaking windows. You’re armed in the inside trying to protect your family. If you see one of them pop their head in a broken window and start to crawl through do you think you would be justified to shoot that person?
If you follow the previous president's advice, you would have a shotgun in hand and be shooting through your front door.
