Should I join Idaho's "The Citadel"

We can't make a decision for you. In fact, I would very much encourage you not to make a decision based on what anyone here says. You have to make the best decision for you and your family.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with being prepared to defend ourselves. Nor with gathering together with likeminded individuals for mutual protection and support.

But are these people truly the ones you agree with? Is what they are doing and planning to do consistant with Gospel standards? Will you be living in the "City on a Hill" or just an armed version of the world.

I certainly encourage you to gather together with likeminded people whatever you do.

Are you a follower of a Jeffs or an Allred? You can't be temple LDS at all.

You ever heard the line "It's better to remain silent and look like a fool than to speak and remove all doubt?" I'd recommend listening to that.

You try this nonsense on your priesthood file leadership if your LDS, then get back and tell us about the ass kicking you got.

Thank you for confirming that you are not temple LDS. My friends in the LDS church have told me that the leadership of the LDS Church have always said members are on the brink of apostasy if they follow the political beliefs like those of JBS or Cleon Skousen or Glenn Beck

Now that is a gated community. I think we're going to see more of this stuff as time goes on; Especially if liberal thinking as it is now, continues to pollute society.

I asked my wife if she wanted to move there, and she said no; but she did like the idea of me owning a gun.
oooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....Mommy's finally gonna let you get a gun, huh???

So, why would they change their name, from.....

....to "The Citadel"???

Surprised they aren't just using the whole state of Texas....maybe there aren't enough to support their secessionist, bunker mentality as they "think".

Wall us off. Sounds good to me.

I can't help but notice their web site is extremely cagey about who is behind this project. There isn't a single name named.

Not a good sign.

For all you know, they are Nazis. Their architectural renderings have that certain je ne sais quoi.

They sure sound like Nazis.

Look here, from their site:

Citadel Definition

A fortress in a commanding position in or near a city.
Any strongly fortified building or place of safety; refuge
A gated and walled community in the style of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany.

They conveniently provide a wiki link in case you miss the giant hint:

Rothenburg held a special significance for Nazi ideologists. For them, it was the epitome of the German 'Home Town', representing all that was quintessentially German. Throughout the 1930s the Nazi organisation "KDF" ("Kraft durch Freude") Strength through Joy organized regular day trips to Rothenburg from all across the Reich. This initiative was staunchly supported by Rothenburg's citizenry – many of whom were sympathetic to National Socialism – both for its perceived economic benefits and because Rothenburg was hailed as "the most German of German towns". In October 1938 Rothenburg expelled its Jewish citizens, much to the approval of Nazis and their supporters across Germany.

The ultimate gated community, Rothenburg was.

This thing is going to be in Idaho. The national playground for white supremacists.

Or they could be con men.

Who is the Leader?

There is no person who can claim the title, "Leader" of the Citadel, nor will there be. The only "Leader" we have is the ideal of Jefferson's Rightful Liberty.

There are, however, motivated individuals who have accepted responsibility for various aspects of the project. This is a consensus effort by a dedicated group of individuals working toward a common goal. These people are not locked into their positions. There will be openings to new volunteers as the project evolves.

Interesting choice of word: Leader.

Idaho, no names, an obsession with things Germanic, a clear reference to an exclusive Nazi town. So...yeah...clearly a bunch of those left-wing Nazis we hear so much about.

Marxists, Socialists, Liberals, and Establishment Republicans may find that living within our Citadel Community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles.

They glaringly left out Democrats. So they must be nazi Democrats!

Sieg Heil!

Sure. Religious groups have been doing this for ages. Jews, Mormons, Mennonites, Amish, etc, have built their own communities. Neighborhood HOA's have on occasion been formed to bunch up like minded people. What is so radical about a bunch of Right wingers setting up their own community? Probably will look like this:

so which one is yours?.....just curious....

The guy who is behind it is a convicted felon.

What was he convicted of? Scamming people. Surprised?

He was sent to prison in 2004. Extortion.

<snip>
Not easily intimidated, the mall CEOs pooled their resources to investigate Mr. Kerodin, whose real name is Christian Hyman. After discovering that his experience as a security consultant was questionable, they called in the Department of Homeland Security. A Secret Service officer posing as a developer met with Hyman, who was arrested and charged with extortion after allegedly asking for a $120,000 payoff to “go away.”

Man sentenced for extortion; Alexandria resident targeted malls in security scam.

An Alexandria man was sentenced yesterday in federal court to 30 months in prison and fined $6,000 after he pleaded guilty in January to charges of extortion and possessing an unregistered short-barreled rifle.

U.S. Attorney Paul J. McNulty in Alexandria said Christian Kerodin, 36, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gerald Bruce Lee . . .
Sipsey Street Irregulars: Three-letter frog in Kerodin's pocket? Anecdotes of the Kerodin career. A convicted extortionist. Turns out his real name is Christian Hyman.

That last link to the SipsyStreetIrregulars, is actually part of the "Three Percent" movement, and they are none too happy this dude is horning in on their Liberty Movement.

A leading Three Percent blog, the Sipsey Street Irregulars, identifies who's behind Citadel:Convicted extortionist's latest con gets huge play on Drudge.

Readers may recall that Christian Hyman, aka Sam Kerodin, is not exactly a favorite of mine, since he appeared out of nowhere and attempted to hijack the Three Percent philosophy (with some success since there are suckers born every minute, apparently). His latest scam is something called "Citadel" ...

What did Kerodin do? After 9/11, he set himself up as a security consultant; he approached shopping malls claiming that they were likely targets of terrorism, then threatened to ID particular malls in a published report as especially vulnerable to terrorism unless those malls paid him not to do so.

Let me reiterate: This felon and his secessionist militia project are being promoted by Fox News -- which insists that it's a respectable news organization.

Have look further at how one of the regulars, Mike Vanderboegh, (who appears repeatedly on FOX News), there advise people to start smashing the windows of local Democratic Party offices. After that, windows of local Democratic Party offices were reported broken all over the country. I remarked on this at the time, back in 2010.

It was in that furor, not long after, Gabby Giffords was shot. (Not drawing a parallel, but reminding folks the atmosphere created by teaparty crazies in the health reform hysteria.)

Mike Vanderboegh: "To all modern Sons of Liberty: THIS is your time. Break their windows. Break them NOW. "

More fun from these scammers (his wife Holly plays an active part of the scamming):

He tried to solicit people to fund his "vision" of a magazine for the Renaissance faire/ fantasy crowd called "Wench Magazine" back in 2011. It appears to be just one of the many publishing adventures he went on where he tried to get people to pay for something they never got.

He proudly boasts he has over 500 web domains and says:

"Lot of domain names - yes, we own more than 500. When we put our marketing energy into a product, it gets noticed."

^ If you want to learn about his Wench venture, people can google that sentence, it leads to a Ren. forum where folks who were solicited discuss the duping.

Yep, this convicted felon AKA "Liberty Patriot" sure market good alright, and they sure as hell know the con market.
