Should the media be held accountable?

The media had standards, you just couldn't blithely allege someone was communist because that great Journalist, Ed Murrow would demand proof. You just can't allege something like Joe McCarthy did, without proof? Like unproven allegations of racism or Russian colusion? Because that would be bad. By anyone's standard.

Honesty and integrity in the media. We want the FACTS, not mommy told us what to think editorial garbage the media disperses NOW. Lets end this.
It really won't be easy, if it can be done at all. The "press" has a get-out-of-jail-free card directly from our Constitution. It would require legislation that would tighten libel statutes as well as potentially setting up a bureau of journalistic standards and they'd fight that idea to their last breath. What they are doing these days is clearly intentional and the effect is to make them a devastating 5th Column, working from within to take America down.

Try saying anything about going after one of these blatant, unapologetic LIARS (even if their lies harmed you) and you can find yourself under criminal investigation. And that's BEFORE we get this handy new chief inquisitorial group codified by DC. The only potential resistance to their propaganda is to create a platform that neither they nor our government can silence. Build such a platform with an eye to ABSOLUTE honesty and attention to the minutia of factual details that they cannot spin without being shown to be liars. Create that outlet and it will become the most popular site on the interwebs. People CRAVE TRUTH.

Yes the media should be held accountable.
The consequences for what they did to Nicholas Sandman should not be the aberration but the norm. When they post defamatory, inflammatory content and even after it has been debunked, they continue to leave it up, they should be beggared in court.

Only way to hold media accountable, much like the political parties, is to infltrate it/them.

Now...ask yourselves a question..and answer it honestly.

Who are the most respected ''Republicans" who actually fight for their constituents in a meaningful way?

Who is the most respected ''conservative media face?"

It's a process of continuing growth.

You don't have to believe me. But I'm telling you the truth. And if you're paying attention, it's precisely what is happening.

Ask yourselves which "Republicans'' they hate the most.

Ask yourselves which ''conservative media face'' they hate the most.

They hate them because they hold them accountable by leading. By doing what they refuse to do.

It does not take a majority.

Brushfires...

The media used to be relatively politics free. I know, hard to believe. They refrained from the editorial spin, they just reported information free from editorial bullshit. Fact reportage SHOULD BE free from the contamination of politics, just facts.

Mark Levin wrote a book that's basically a history of American journalism and the press we took for granted since about the 1950s was actually an outlier compared to how journalism had been done in America. Newspapers used to be overtly partisan and no one complained because both sides had their own newspapers.
We had about 50 years where journalism began to be reformed into a profession with ethics but when the need to spread propaganda became too necessary in the quest for power, those standards were jettisoned. We saw its death throes beginning in the 2016 election and it continues to this day. There is no longer any serious doubt that 90+ percent of corporate media acts as a political advocacy arm for the Democrat party.

If America survives this current media war against her, it will be thanks to the humble efforts of James O'Keefe's Project Veritas. Even busy, distracted people are interested in "gotcha" journalism and in PV's case it happens to be truthful, coming directly from the mouth of the guilty entity.

Roger Cronkite. Just the facts, straight up, no chaser. Hunter-Brinkley. Spin, perhaps. These journalist where held accountable for their reportage. Standards and ethics. NOW? MSNBC or CNN just says Trump colluded, because a certain branch of media says so without any accountability, not proof nothing. OK, that's good? Bring back the accountability and standards to the media.

So true! I can actually recall watching the evening news and seeing Sevareid, Cronkite, or Brinkley taking a few minutes at the end of a news broadcast to give some opinion of the day's events. They wouldn't even sit at the anchor's desk. They had a separate desk with a sign in front of them, centered on the camera, clearly marked with "ANALYSIS" OR "COMMENTARY". They went out of their way to clearly define a separation between factual reporting and personal opinion.

I remember Cronkite saying he deliberately left out his opinions on reportage, that seemed to be the whole spirit of Journalism. Gathering and dispersing the facts. Truth. That is what it should be NOW.

Like unproven allegations of racism or Russian colusion?
There’s long been ample evidence of the right’s collusion with Russia.

And just last weekend we saw more tragic proof of rightwing racism.

That ‘the media’ report facts and the truth that conservatives don’t like or conflicts with conservative dogma doesn’t mean ‘the media’ are being dishonest or untrustworthy.

See how the far still push this narrative no matter how many times it has been proven false?
