Are there any questions?

YES!!!!
Were any animals harmed in this depiction???

National Review asks the question, "Is it ok to read, "Dreams of my Father,' while in uniform? Or how about, "The Audacity of Hope?" Or any other literature written by a card carrying librul??? Hmm??? Are we now going to police ALL MILITARY soldiers, airman, marines, sailors on what they read???

TYRANNY....... plain and simple. Progressives are nothing more than Communists.. They just changed their title. Same old nasty spew, different year.

Not reading Levin, Limbaugh or Hannity is a good idea in or out of uniform.

And therefore by extension...
NYT,Washington Post, NewsWeek.. (especially when the Editor thinks Obama's a God!!),NBC, Chris-tingle-Mathews,CNN-Crowley debates rescues Obama,
Just about any media that gave 85% of their money to Obama/Democrats and then ginned out 71% negative stories about Romney versus zero for Obama in 2012!
Or how about any university that has a professor who advocated using an “M1A Abrams tank, supported by an F22 Raptor squadron with Hellfire missiles” to kill NRA members, Republicans, Conservatives, and those who support the Second Amendment."

This soldier did more than read Hannity and Levin. He served Chick Fil A at a party! Now there's an anti gay act for you.

This is an object lesson for anyone considering the military. You cannot read the books you choose. You cannot buy and enjoy whatever food you wish. Before anyone joins the obama military, they should stop and think about the whole concept of fighting for freedom. Then they can decide if they will have any being an obamaman.

Sounds like Sommers sensitivities are the ones being hurt. He's been so discriminated against because of his Christianity that he received a promotion in 2012. Poor guy.

It appears that you may have not served in the military. E-7 is the last promotion that a person earns without having board points. That is why it was pointed out that the letter in his record was a career killer.

Why do Christians believe they have the right to vilify a homosexual person, but they jump up and down and sook whenever someone mocks their religion?

Seems they can give it but can't take it.

Why is it the left says that Christians have to "shut up and take it" when their religion is mocked, ridiculed, and restrictions on how they practice it is placed by the Government. Meanwhile anything that may be offensive to any Gay, Woman, or Minority must be corrected and removed immediately or else it creates a "hostile" work environment?

Reading an author while in uniform should not be banned. OR, if you are not allowed to read Hannity, Levin, Limbaugh, then you should also not be allowed to read Alinsky, Ayers, Alan Colmes, Ed Schultz. Tell uniform personnel they cannot read political material while in uniform. Anything penned by the sitting Commander in Chief can be read.

Be consistent.

I am just asking because well here read where this comes from...

Soldier Told Not to Read Levin, Limbaugh or Hannity in Uniform

A veteran member of the U.S. Army Band said he is facing retribution and punishment from the military for having anti-Obama bumper stickers on his car, reading books written by conservative authors like Mark Levin and David Limbaugh, and serving Chick-fil-A sandwiches at his promotion party.

Master Sgt. Nathan Sommers, a 25-year Army veteran and conservative Christian based at Fort Myer in Washington, believes his outspoken opposition to gay marriage prompted higher-ups to take a closer look at his beliefs. The recipient of an Army Commendation Medal and a soloist at the funeral of former First Lady Betty Ford, Sommers said his core beliefs are enough to mark a soldier for persecution in today’s military.

During the course of their investigation, the military unearthed a tweet from 2010 that included a derogatory word for homosexuals. The soldier admitted that he had retweeted someone else’s original tweet.

“Lordy, Lordy, it’s faggot Tuesday. The lefty loons and Obamabots are out in full force,” the retweet read.

Just asking.. if other people like me that Obama At a San Francisco fundraiser, said,
“They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

I wonder if I should be offended at being called "religion clinger"????

Would you be offended if I suggested you're not too bright. Consider if you can the incident at Fort Hood, TX wherein a religious zealot, an officer in the service to our country, shot and killed other members of the Military. Wouldn't even a dim person understand that the hate which exists in the bigotry of a member of our armed services presents a risk and closer examination of said bigot is necessary?

Not just any religious zealot committed the workplace violence at Ft. Hood. It was a muslim religious zealot, which is okay. Christianity must be stamped out at the root.

That was my opinion but I suspect commanders wouldn't allow anti-Bush reading in uniform when Bush was Commander-In-Chief.

Just a little aside..

Back in the stone age when I was in the Service, this happened in the late 80's, one of the troops in my unit was in trouble because he had put a confederate flag on the wall by his bunk in the dorm. His roommate, a minority, was offended by it.

I was on rotation that month, so I was pulled to go and inspect the room. When I entered the room his side of the room was the back side, so I first saw his roommate's side. There was the Red, Black, and Green Pan African flag on the wall facing the door. On the wall was a Malcolm X poster. Several Red, Black, and Green items in the shape of Africa were on display on shelves, the desk, the press.

I took a couple of photos and returned back to the Shirt and Commander. My report was simple. If the one guy had to remove his single Confederate item, the flag which was only visible if you went to his side of the room, the roommate who had complained must also remove his flag and other items.

I don't know what the end result was. I didn't have the final say, only to report and make recommendations. But it a prime example of how the Left will complain about what they see others doing while not seeing what they are doing is just as offensive.

In all honesty, you really are dumb.

It isn't speech that's the complaints against this soldier. It's his choice of reading material and his menu. If he was reading The Post American World, it would have been okay. It's not speech police, it's thought police.

That soldier's clearly trying to piss people off. That would be a problem in any profession.

As for the word "faggot," if you're using it like an asshole then it's wrong. I'll defer to my man B Rabbit - some people are gay, but others deserve to be called faggots

All speech is protected under the 1st. Its not wrong.

Is the rule being equally applied? Is all political reading material prohibited while in uniform?

We read tech manuals and studied for service wide exams while in uniform. Out of uniform we could read what we liked...unless you were in school in the barracks....then "certain materials" were prohibited. (Porn)

Interesting. I don’t see how that would fly. He is NOT allowed to stand on his soap box and express anti-Obama sentiment, preach or do other things that are barred while in uniform but to stop him from READING??? That is way over the edge.

Consider that one indecent has nothing to do with the other. Before hurling insults, you might want to focus on the topic here and that is the reprimand that one soldier is getting for political and religios sentiments. This particular soldier is NOT in danger of going crazy and shooting people and the actions taken against him are not going to reduce that probability anyway. In fact, they are more likely to increase it.

Yanno........................I've served in the U.S. Navy from 1982 until 2002. During that time I've been exposed to many different viewpoints, and none were disallowed.

I've read Lao-Tzu, as well as have loaned out my copies of both The Tao of Pooh, and The Tao Te Ching, none of which resulted in NJP.

And yeah..................porn (of the overseas variety, most notably Italy) was banned on the ship, yet a lot of people managed to get it onboard.

If you're a person who has never served, you may do yourself well to see what the suggested reading list is for those who are officers (many of the enlisted read them as well, if they want to advance).

Almost all reading material is allowed (even the communist stuff), but talking about it and inciting others to believe as you do isn't allowed.
