Weird, the last time I checked solar and wind were the first and second most installed energy sources in America. The federal government is very much a huge part of what funds our infrastructure and energy infrastructure within this nation. Heck, within most first world countries.

The problem is that they (solar and wind) wouldn't exist if not for subsidies. They are not economically viable.

Most of the loans in the energy loan program are in their early phases. It is way too premature to claim they are a net loss. The performing loans will probably more than cancel out the losses of the non-performing loans. That's how any lending business works.

This program was actually created in 2005, and given more money in 2009.
