Here are a few new laws passed by the California legislature.
1. No juvenile offenders have to serve life without parole.
2. Californians with HIV can no longer be charged with a felony for exposing a partner to the disease.
3. Employers must give workers a 72-hour notice that federal immigration officials are planning a raid.
4, Schools in low-income communities must provide free tampons to students in grades six through 12.
5, Beginning in September, Californians can choose a gender-neutral option on their birth certificate for those who are transgender, intersex or don't identify as male or female.
6. More theaters, restaurants, and government offices must provide diaper-changing stations in men's restrooms.
