SpaceX Rocket...Explodes

Said lightweight lander could easily fit in starship's cargo module.

Fucktard, why don't you just admit you now hate Musk because your prog twat "betters" told you to?
Your ignorance is showing yet again.

1. A lightweight lander doesn’t need a super heavy booster and cargo starship, it could launch on a rocket that actually exists
2. NASA isn’t paying SpaceX to build a cargo starship, they’re paying them to land on the moon
3. NASA isn’t funding a lightweight lunar lander because they’re sinking their money into Starship which will not land on the moon anytime soon if ever

You’re all emotion and blind devotion to your social warrior hero. You don’t know anything.

NASA is funding multiple pathways and the first one there wins.

Your TDS has devolved into MDS.

Too bad, so so sad.

No, they're not funding multiple pathways. NASA doesn't have the money to fund multiple pathways. They're only funding Starship.

Your too much of an asshole to admit when you're a dipshit who doesn't know what they're talking about.

Then how did they get the Orion module to loop around the moon already?

Good lord, you’re so ignorant.

NASA’s Orion is a crewed exploration vehicle to take astronauts from earth to the moon and then back.

It doesn’t land on the moon.

NASA needs a lunar lander, but instead of funding a rational choice with a good likelihood of actually working, they sent a billion or three to Musk so he can use it to blow holes in the ground.

Anything else I can explain to you or is your brain at capacity now?

He won the contract. let's see if he can deliver. When does NASA expect to need the lander?

He shouldn’t have won the contract. The only reason he won is because he lowballed everyone. That sounds great until you realize the odds of delivering are minuscule. The proposed date for the landing is two and a half years away. We will be lucky if he is able to blow a other hole in the ground by next year.

Welcome to lowest bidder government contracts.

He's gonna launch a new one in less than 6 months, unless the FAA grounds him.

He blew apart half of his launch pad and yeah, the government might be a little pissed about him fucking up the entire town because he failed to foresee something that was totally predictable.

Lowest bidder government contracts shouldn't be so brainless as to chuck money at a project that is clearly impractical for the purpose.

The SLS provider was a lowest bidder as well, same as Orion.

Well, that didn't last long. More of Elon's money going up in smoke. Good thing there wasn't a crew on the way to the moon.

I do like the "rapid disassembly" explanation. That's a new one.

This is part of the rapid prototype processes. Musk was clear that there was like a 50/50 chance of it reaching orbit.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

SLS and Orion were designed specifically for the program and specifically for the purpose of traveling to the moon.

Starship was designed to go to Mars, but they hacked off a bunch of it to try to adapt it to the moon even though it makes no sense to do so.

This does not seem all that rapid.

How long has SLS been in development for?

Also Starship has double the 1st stage thrust.

2011.

However, unlike Starship it did not explode.

In the same way, the Apollo Program started in 1961, and landed on the moon in 1969. It had 32 launches, two partial failures and no catastrophic failures.

In comparison, the N1 was started in 1961 just weeks after the Apollo Program was announced. They had 4 launches between 1969 and 1972 and 4 failures.

So if you are trying to prove a point, you are actually more than anything else proving the point against what you are trying to claim.

And the thrust is meaningless if it is more likely to explode than make it into orbit.

Not only that, it literally is a dead-end technology. As back in 2021 they said they were not going to attempt to get human certification for the launch vehicle. And to be honest it boggles my mind that they continued on with it anyways, even after stating the platform will never take a single person into space. Especially after the almost flawless Artemis 1 mission, that covered 25 days and had two very different interceptions of the moon before returning safely to Earth.

Give me more expensive and safer and sure over cheap and prone to blowing up any day.

You see no sense, I see good practice.

Plus government-private industry cooperation, which is going to be the way forward with space travel.

Looking forward to the Space Force's version of rescue rockets being on 48 hour standby like a Coast Guard for Space.
