SpaceX Rocket...Explodes

Which will save time for later, further and more complicated missions.

Starship would be part of, or the prototype to, the rockets that lead to maybe a permanent moon base, or Asteroid Missions, or maybe even Asteroid mining.

Musk thinks big, and again, he wasn't your boogeyman until he came out as a free speech advocate.
He's not being paid by us to do any other missions. He's being paid to build a lander, which is clearly a long way off.

Musk is a liar. This has been known for a long time.

You think so.......

Dust and ash. that's the worst that happened?
He's going to have to convince the government he can conduct his test without fucking up the neighborhood.

They believed his first application, which turned out to be bullshit. When you get something that wrong, they're going to be skeptical.

A lander, and a way of getting it to the moon. He's not behind schedule.

Liar about what?

Or is this more of the left's usual "Opinions I don't like are lies"?

He's going to have the hard information on why it went wrong, which was the purpose of the test.

1. Need better pad strength and rocket exhaust control.

2. Pay off people in that town for the dust and shit.

He said the lander would be ready before 2024.

Elon Time is a well known phenomenon. He's just so full of shit that no one should believe him.

You don't pay off people for fucking up their town. You stop fucking up the town.

Building a better pad is going to take a long time. Flame diverters will take a long time to construct and are going to be a huge problem given his preexisting infrastructure and the high water table.

His next launch is going to be a long ways off.

That's the problem with his design. He's not testing a lander at all. He's testing a rocket before he gets to the lander. It's a huge delay and is going to stop us from landing on the moon when a more rational approach would have been to design a special built small lander to get the program started rather than a unnecessarily complicated, expensive behemoth.

Dude, government has been promising project completion times measured in decades late, never mind maybe a few years.

But when Elon does it, it's different, because.....reasons.

And he hasn't even done it yet.

Because it's clear that Elon's proposal is completely impractical and unfit for the task.

He promises a rocket in 2 years and we will be lucky to get it in 20. That's not normal.

He can dick around with his own money on this project if he wants, but now he's wasting our money which could be better spent on a rational project.

Next time it won't get fucked up.

They may take a long time under government contract rules, less so probably under private construction situations.

He followed the contract request issued by NASA, and they accepted. You are talking might happen, could happen, maybe, sorta, think so.

And I bet you are PRAYING for the FAA to shut him down so you can gloat.

It's so only in your MDS addled mind.

He hasn't wasted any money yet. Again, maybe, could, would, might, sort of. It's all you got.

Yes, next time it won't get fucked up because the government is going to make sure he doesn't fuck it up.

That is going to delay the next launch by a lot. Totally avoidable and foreseeable.

I'm praying that NASA gets money to fund a realistic project so that we can actually land on the moon.

I'd say blowing a hole in his launch pad is a waste of money. There's a reason that every rocket uses flame diverters, but for some reason he thought he didn't need one for the most powerful rocket ever built.

Hubris is one hell of a drug.

Because of partisan hackery, which you will be cheering on.

You just hate Musk, because Heretics always are more hated than pagans in religious circles, and a substitute religion is what your brand of leftism is.

He left the reservation, thus he must be destroyed.

He tried something, it didn't work. Now he's going to throw his sizable fortune at rectifying the situation.

You are assuming this is similar to what would happen if NASA had a failure like this, with the blame assigning, the upper management producing memos covering their asses, and congress screaming for an investigation.

All Musk has to do is open the checkbook and get contractors onsite to

1. Demo the damaged parts of the existing Pad
2. While that is ongoing design an updated pad
3. Build updated pad.

I think it will take him 6 months or so.

You always blame "partisanship" for the failures of your cult leaders.

Musk has a fucking clown car of personality flaws, but if he could just keep that under control and stick to what he's good at, then it'd be all good. Instead we have a hero worshiping cult of losers like you kissing his ass and convincing him of his own infallibility.

Well, that didn't last long. More of Elon's money going up in smoke. Good thing there wasn't a crew on the way to the moon.

I do like the "rapid disassembly" explanation. That's a new one.

Probably didn't lose a dime. Those things can be insured

The failure was perfectly predictable. It's going to take a long time to correct that failure. Do you have any idea how long it took to build that first pad?

Do you?

And was it due to actual construction delays or permit issues?
