Stung by tariff threat, Mexico insists it does not want a fight with Trump

It will also bring some of those factories back, so continue on with your Trump hating. If it was reported that Trump thought about tariffs on Mexico and he decided against it. You would be saying, why didn't he implement the tariffs.

Actually, no, Tariffs are always a terrible idea.

I work in manufacturing... No one is going to go through the expense of moving manufacturing operations back into this country. To do so, you'd have to first find a factory, get all the permits, then get the machinery, then train people how to use it, and then go through the whole QC/FAI process to get parts you can MAYBE use. That would take months if not years.

If Mexico had paid for the wall, Trump wouldnt have done this to them. Now they are going to pay WAY more money.

No, they aren't paying any money.

The money is being paid by American consumers and businesses.

That's what a tariff is. It's a tax on consumers.

Wrong. We don’t have to pay anything. Then they go out of business and jobs can come back to the US.

Obviously, you have no idea how manufacturing works.

First, a mere five percent isn't going to make manufacturing in this country more profitable again.

Second, companies won't make up the difference by getting their parts here. They'll make up the difference by cutting headcount.

Third, you are really too dumb to know you are being played. Historically, the number of people trying to cross ALWAYS declines in the summer (because it's too hot to cross the desert). So what Trump will do is threaten these Tariffs, and when the number of people showing up at the border goes down, he'll claim victory...

and you rubes will buy it.

Then i guess Mexico has nothing to complain about.

That's right. Trump wins again!! :113:

"President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, clearly determined to avoid an economic war with his country’s most important trading partner, did not announce any retaliatory measures against the United States and appeared to be doing everything in his power to persuade Trump to change his mind. U.S. tariffs would exacerbate a difficult economic situation for Lopez Obrador, who already faces a weak peso and sluggish growth."

So much winning!!!! Mexico will pay for the wall. One way or the other.
There's a reason the Trump brand is manufactored in Mexico......cause they cheap

This won’t take long. Trump holds all the cards.

Less than a week ago he outlined his escalating plan if Mexico failed to take appropriate actions in a timely manner. Today a slew of Mexican government stooges are scampering to DC because Trump has their country’s cojones in a vice and ready to start making things very uncomfortable.

Mexico isn't that worried... They know Trump will back down after a certain point, just like he does on all of his other empty threats.

American Consumers will feel the heat long before Mexico does.

Here's the thing. This isn't costing Mexico one red peso... these costs will be born by American Consumers and Businesses... not Mexico.

Actually
Mexico will pay one way or the other. Stop with the juvenile name calling.

Along with Tariffs it was announced that the administration may put a fee on all cash remittances wired from US to other nations.

Jo

WOW!! You actually think you speak for a foreign nation AND can read their minds.....Po lil' TDSer. Bless your heart. :itsok:

Then quit whining about it.

As long as Trump is going to be a moron, people should point it out.

But you said: "Third, you are really too dumb to know you are being played. So, according to your own words, Trump can 'play' tens of millions of people by applying a clever strategy using tariffs. Then, according to your own words, Trump is a "moron".....It is obvious that you subscribe to the Democrat hate-Trump campaign strategy. Good luck with that.

No, Trump is a moron if he thinks anyone will fall for it.

Dumbfuck pays more for products, thinks he's "winning".
US Consumers are not, on balance, seeing price hikes.

Mexico's economy is doing poorly, posting less than one percent growth in the past year. The 5% tariffs, projected to rise to 25% over the course of months without a migration and security deal with the U.S., are expected to cost $800 billion in trade overall, and that's got to be terrifying to Mexico.

Why is Mexico allowing its country to become a welcome mat for human-smugglers and cartels? Cartels are hell on Mexico's economy and a font of corruption. Allowing corruption to go on, with cartel bank accounts fattened by migrant fees and officials paid off further corrupts the nation. Migrant caravans and human-smuggling waves are not popular with the Mexican public, and it's not just Tijuana that's protesting. Here's a tweet to the New York Times from a Mexican to give the paper that reminder:

Mexico and the U.S. Have Made Progress Toward Averting Tariffs

Diplomats on both sides of the border and immigration experts say Mexico could step up enforcement but cannot completely stop all immigration into the United States.

In Mexico we are against the invasion of the caravans, all this it's frustrating and disgusting.

Well, first, Trump was never going to impose tariffs. This is once again, Fooling the Rednecks. Trump threatens sanctions, Mexico agrees to a few things they pinky swear they will do... or were going to do anyway... and you rednecks will all say, Boy, Trump sure got tough with Mexico.

It amazes me how gullible you guys are.
