SWAT team throws stun grenade:lands in baby crib

The judge that approved the warrant needs to be put up for assault.

No...accessory before the fact to reckless endangerment, armed home invasion, and assault with a deadly weapon; if the baby does not survive, that charge upgraded to murder one.

Thx for the clarification!
Judges who issue warrants are immune to any form of sanction other than recall from the Bench. And because any such determination would be made by other judges the likelihood of punitive action is extremely limited.

The application for warrant to raid the Davidian premises not only was based on false statements and glaring errors, such as the child molestation charges which were not only erroneous but outside the purview of the BATF, it was learned during the Waco "hearings" that none of the raiders who attempted to break in and who shot Koresh through the door, had the warrant on their person -- which was legally required. This is just one of the reasons why the Davidians were acquitted by a Texas state court of murder for killing the ATF raiders. According to Texas Penal Law, the raid was illegal and the Davidians had a right to defend themselves.

The Waco Massacre was an act of ruthless federal oppression. Bill Clinton and his freakish Attorney General, Janet Reno, are ultimately responsible and should face serious punitive sanctions for letting it happen.

This will not end unless and until people start dropping the hammer on bad cops. It is that simple.
I agree. But unfortunately the situation must get worse before it will get better.

We live in an extremely authoritarian culture wherein the submissive disposition has evolved in substantial numbers. That fact is quite apparent in the number of authority-oriented (police) tv programs. It is virtually impossible to thumb through the channels without coming across one good-guy/bad-guy, shoot-em-up/lock-em-up cop-opera after another. In fact, anyone who can reflect back on the sixties will be challenged to recall all the cop-oriented programs which have dominated prime-time television dating back to Dragnet. There are just too many to remember.

Actually this pre-conscious public obsession with socialized authority goes back to radio days (1940s & beyond), e.g., The FBI In Peace and War; Sam Spade, Private Eye; King of The Royal Mounties, The Lone Ranger; to name just a few.

An especially interesting aspect of the evolution of authoritarian culture in America is seen in the dramatic difference in the comparative dispositions of authority figures in the entertainment media. Consider the polite, business-like efficiency of Dragnet's Sergeant Friday (1960s) compared to the arrogant, often-abusive, sometimes brazenly brutal behavior of the Law & Order, Special Victims Unit detectives, or those of NYPD Blue, et al (present day).

The radio part might be a stretch but the TV point is well taken. Not just the programming on it but the way television itself works commands its user to sit still and commit his/her entire sensory input to what the tube says it is. That's not only the most effective propaganda machine ever invented; it by definition creates passive submissive dispositions. Thus it's not only a deadly effective propaganda tool for selling crap we don't need as well as the ideas and values of those with the wherewithal to own those stations; it creates by the act a race of drones that at some point cannot process experience unless it comes from a telescreen.

Walk into a room where people are watching TV sometime, and instead of following their gaze to the telescreen, watch the watchers and see what you see: passive hypnotized drones sitting in one spot, allowing a stream of programmed ideas into the photographic film of the brain, and doing absolutely nothing about it. That sight alone ought to make you kill your TV.

I will always argue that radio is inherently superior to television because when limited to audio the imagination is left free and active, and you can do other things while listening. Television is a jealous god. It demands full and total attention.
