Tea Party Officials Sneak Into Courthouse After Polls Close And Gets Locked In

A manager. Why?

You spend a lot of time worrying about what other people do in their spare time. You should be less of a control freak. People in this country are allowed to move freely even at 2 am.

oh. so you were there with an employee of the bank who had the right to be there.

who were these three with when they entered the empty closed courthouse through a conveniently unlocked door they lied about?

KG, they were not charged with anything because they didn't break any laws. Trespassing involves unauthorized entry onto private land. Apparently, there is no law against being in a public building when it is closed, so long as you don't break in. The question remains WTF were they doing there. So far, all the McDaniel campaign has is non-answers like "we sent them there to observe." The obvious question is observe what? The moon.

Practically, it doesn't matter. McDaniel got around 150K votes. None of those votes found breaking into a sick woman's nursing home a reason to not vote for this guy, and none of them will find sneaking around in closed courthouses a reason not to.

I suspect he'll defeat Cochran, who frankly ran a dreadful campaign. They should have let him retire and ran the Lt Gov or Sec of State against McDaniel, and had they done so, Miss wouldn't be facing the debacle of a senator who thinks Pell Grants are unconstitutional and who not only couldn't have gotten Katrina aid but can't say whether he'd even have voted for it.

Mathmatically, it'd be possible that if a very strong mainstream gop candidate ran as an indep, we could retain this seat w/o a teapartier. Cochran won his last election 723K to a pretty weak dem 450K. Childers is better, but Obamacare is hugely unpopular. McDaniel got 150K in the primary.

There's talk of simply supporting childers. I'll vote for him, though I've never voted dem in a statewide race before down here. The Delta planters will vote for him. But in the end, I think the big counties near Memphis, Jackson and the coast will just not vote.

nobody else was there

locked themselves in a public building

brilliant.

my guess is they realized or thought once the door had closed re-opening could set off an alarm and wanted to avoid that.

and just as an fyi i believe that's a reasonable thing to avoid whether or not you're there to break the law.

The idiots locked themselves in by accident

"Our investigation revealed that the three individuals were able to enter the courthouse through a side door marked for employees only," Sheriff's Department spokesman Othor Cain said Thursday afternoon in a statement. "This door was either propped open or was malfunctioning at the time of entry."

Cain said the three had access only to the common areas of the courthouse, including the hallways and restrooms.

"Based on our findings, the door in question closed behind them upon entry and they proceeded to look for individuals that were counting ballots in an effort to assist. After not finding anyone in the building it is then they called for assistance to get out," the statement said.

It was in the link in the OP, try reading instead of flapping your gums. NO LAWS WERE BROKEN.

Steph said they didn't sneak in. They snuck in through an unlocked side door marked no public entrance. Stop apologizing for people simply because you like their ideology.

Yeah because Mississippi law enforcement has such a sterling reputation when it comes to investigating people they happen to drink beer with ....

Needs to go to the grand jury

The quote from the sheriff is pretty telling. Unless he was with them, he has NO IDEA whether any crime was committed.

Hey, they just happened to be walking by city hall, forgot they were not employees, weren't sure what time it was, and showed up for work. Nuttin' wrong wit dat.

They have the most believable story since "Oh noes! Our beloved leader has committed suicide, shooting himself 87 times in the back, pausing only once to reload!"

they also lied about how they got in.

True, and their story about looking for people counting ballots doesn't really make any sense. It's possible they went their to do that. But it would have become painfully obvious very fast that they were locked in a closed public building .... yet they waited over an hour to call anyone. Perhaps they were just embarrassed. LOL

How is walking through an unlocked door with no alarm, "sneaking"?

And then calling whoever they called to let them out?

If they were *sneaking* wouldn't they have just laid low until the next day?

They probably talked to people on their way in.

How do we know they lied about how they got in?

Oh yeah. We don't. Probably because they didn't.

well that's weird, too.

they didn't call local law enforcement. they called the republican party.

that's what they claimed. it was also a lie.

“There are conflicting stories from the three of them, which began to raise the red flag, and we’re trying to get to the bottom of it,” Othor Cain, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, told the Sun-Herald.
At any rate, Cain, the sheriff’s spokesman, told the Clarion-Ledger, “It’s a fabrication that someone pointed them to a door.… None of our guys let anybody in.”

Stop. You're making a bigger fool of yourself than usual. Just STOP DIGGING, THE HOLE IS LARGE NOW.

" Even if there was no criminal activity, it still doesn't account for why these three individuals were in the county courthouse afterhours with no county employee," Graham said. "We have no information whether they had criminal intentions or not. We don't know how long they were in there…We need to have a total accounting."

Graham said his office has been bombarded with calls from citizens after the sheriff department said lits investigation was over.

Scott Brewster, Janis Lane, and Rob Chambers were found locked inside the courthouse early Wednesday. They allegedly entered sometime shortly after 2 a.m. and, after realizing they were locked in, called for help.
