I don't think you've ever practiced law. I have and getting someone in a “gotcha trap” is the easiest thing in the world. It's what lawyers do.

History shows that the majority of indictments and convictions resulting from investigations like this are from 'gottcha' snares.

Scooter Libby's was another 'gottcha' moment in which a question asked during the investigation 'created' / resulted in a crime - his crime was not one already committed before the investigation but resulted because of it.
