There are NUMEROUS states where there are HUGE differences politically between different regions of the State. The best claim of all is California, which could strongly argue for FOUR, or at least THREE separate states, to accommodate the differing interests of the regions of that state. Chicago is no more "different" from the rest of the state than NYC is to Upstate.

Based on the likely results of a national plebiscite, I suspect that the remainder of the U.S. would gladly cede California back to Mexico - a more likely development than splitting THAT state in twain. As for Chicago and the rest of IL, I know it's frustrating to be ruled by the Leftists and crooks (sorry for the redundancy) in the appropriately named Windy City, but you are not alone.

There is serious talk about cutting New York City away from New York because the city controls the state but the values of the city don't refelct the values of the rest of the state.

Sounds like Illinois has the same problem.
