Call me cynical, but the First Amendment began being strangled back in the 50s with Operation Mockingbird. It's been dead for many years now.

Rights must be kept strong by exercising them. During Clinton and Obama the MSM had the 1A right to hold our leaders accountable through investigative and factual reporting with a skeptical approach. But they did not exercisevit so it weakened.

There was litle skepticism about Clinton and absolutely zero during Obama.

By the time alternative media grew on the internet, it seemed strange to see differing opinions aired publicly. Democrats reacted with fear and censorship.

Having grown up under Obama, gen X are mystified by objections to government sponsored censorship.
