Since then its been all Dem controlled, but you still have to blame Republicans for everything. Dems had a chance to change any law they wanted with their super majority, and failed to do so. So every law on the books is on them.

We'll see if Reid will ever let this particular bill to be voted on, much less Dems actually voting in favor of it.

Don't get carried away, that's far too partisan a statement. It's both of these fucking parties that are destroying America. Ever here of the Church committee? and when George Bush was using the NSA to do warrantless (read: illegal) wiretapping, Sandra Day O'Conner warned we were degenerating into dictatorship and she was a Reagan appointee! Both parties need to be dismissed and we need to start over.

Democrats had a supermajority in the Senate, and thus full control of all three branches....for 24 days in 2009. It basically was just enough time to pass Obamacare.

And it was the Republicans that introduced expanded surveillance capabilities via the Patriot Act, torture, the DOHS, the AUMF, "enemy combatants" and a plethora of liberty and privacy killing policies and law.

Did they expect a Democratic President, starved of resources by them, to give up these powers because of ideology and risk another major terrorist attack?

If Republicans are truly interested in shutting this horrible legislation down, add resources to our intelligence agencies so they can get more folks on the ground.

I have to agree with you somewhat here. I was against DHS creation from the beginning due to how it would be administered differently from either party.
