The most tragic consequence of increased fuel economy is the tens of thousands per year who die or suffer life altering injury due to the compromises in safety in the name of increased fuel economy...killing and maiming tens of thousands per year in the name of a few more miles per gallon is unconscionable....and typical for the left. And, as cars use less fuel, politicians naturally want to raise taxes on that fuel. And, when we go to biomass fuels from corn or similar crops, that reduces the amount of food available for consumption – many of them staples or directly related to food prices.

Do you actually want to try to compare the impacts of humanitarian liberalism to pro-capitalistic (particularly American capitalism) conservatives on the well-being of the typical third world human beings? Let's look at the exploitation of the natural resources in Africa, oil in the middle east, tourism in the Caribbean, agriculture in Asia and low wage manufacturing in China. How much did the AVERAGE resident in those locations benefit from the western rape of their inherticances? Then let's look at the Peace Corps, at building schools, providing teachers, cellular communications systems, low-to-zero interest loans to small businesses, to women and, yes, to building electrical grids. I'm quite certain you lose.

PS: You've made this charge before. Let's see the proof. Identify for us a third world electrification project stopped out of respect for western climate concerns.

Really? Because my girlfriend owns a Prius, and with the ways she drives it, she gets over 50 mpg. It is quiet, and reliable, and we both love it. If you think that is miserable, you are entitled to your own opinions, even the stupid ones.
