The most tragic consequence of increased fuel economy is the tens of thousands per year who die or suffer life altering injury due to the compromises in safety in the name of increased fuel economy...killing and maiming tens of thousands per year in the name of a few more miles per gallon is unconscionable....and typical for the left. They have no problem killing millions in the name of their green religion. In fact, the gods of the left are even more blood thirsty than the gods of the aztecs.

Check with the national highway traffic safety administration...perhaps you should avoid tripping over your own bullshit before accusing someone else....and making it up as you go is the realm of warmer wackos...ends justifying the means and all that.

The number of toddlers getting mashed by SUVs in their own driveways isn't counted in traffic fatalities, because it doesn't happen in traffic. Compared to 20 years ago, the numbers of children killed that way is up around 5-fold, from about 40/year to about 200/year. Given that kids are usually squished by large vehicles with big blind spots, most of the increase is obviously due to having larger vehicles.

So, if there's a toddler around, getting a big vehicle is much more dangerous for them than getting a regular car. Backup cameras will help, but half of those deaths are coming from frontovers.
