A majority of millennials now reject capitalism, poll shows

51% of millennials do not support capitalism, Harvard study finds

A recent poll shows that an absolute MAJORITY of young adults reject the idea of capitalism, and believe that it is a failed policy that must be replaced with social democracy

I know what you right wingers will say. "Oh, people get more conservative as they age." Too bad that's a lie:

Mythbusters: People Get More Conservative As They Age. Right?

In fact, there's strong evidence that people get more and more PROGRESSIVE as they age:

Busting Myth, People Turn More Liberal With Age

The bottom line is that capitalism's days in this country, and in the western world as a whole, are numbered.

Considering how you trash our current education system, I assume you think those people are a bunch of morons? Or this another flight of inconsistency from your mass murder loving finger tips?

That's because an absolute MAJORITY of young adults are boneheaded children, know nothing about capitalism, have no clue how to make money, and live under an educational system and a political regime that discourages such knowledge, and any successful actions increasing personal wealth that spring forth from it..

The op'er dream of the day of 1984 or Amerika but what the OP'er is clueless about is that Communism failed in USSR and is dying off in China and Cuba...

I have seen these fools every generation that dream of fulfilling Karl Marx Marxism without understanding the human nature of greed...

Pure capitalism, as practiced by the human species, allows for terrible abuses. The workers and the environment have long paid through the nose for the mansions of the rich. But with some restraints, capitalism works better than communism, since it gives incentive to people to innovate, compete, and take responsibility for a better mousetrap. Why would Russia and China, the two largest communist countries in the world, be allowing limited capitalism and getting a better economy as a result?
Communism, on the other hand, has never actually worked as well, although it SOUNDS good on paper. You have to include humans in the equation, since they are there to screw up everyone's nice theories everytime.

Common sense regulated capitalism is the best theory IMO.

Human greed will kill it every time and you can not breed it out nor can you brainwash the society to the point it will no longer have it.

The story of Cain and Able should be the best story to show greed and jealousy and hatred for thy fellow brother, and with this flaw trait in human society make Communism impossible...

Oh I'm sure it's true but hey, they are that stupid then they are the ones who have to live in that world. I wouldn't trade places with them for anything.

I knew a few people who were in communes for years and they were absolutely fine with it, while it lasted. The problem is those who DON'T want to be in it. Like you said, there's both Cain AND Abel, and how we force Abel to work for the general good of society instead of for his own 3 br ranch with fireplace and 2 car garage is the part that has always made applied communism so ugly. I'd be interested to know how the average Chinese or Russian citizen feels about their economy and government now that they've been indoctrinated into it for some generations now. How they really feel. Maybe they feel it's a good thing. Maybe it did help pull a lot of people out of the worst poverty. Although they seem to be embracing private enterprise, they might have a somewhat different take on it than Americans.

Communism does NOT sound good on paper. It is a hateful, godless philosophy that advocates violence be used to rob people of their property.

I'm sure you're right. I have never read The Manifesto and never will. I only know how it's been defined and then what I've heard happened/happens in those countries that are communist.

If I were Socialist I would look more to Norway, Sweden and Finland than the old USSR or Chinese platform of communism,...

No system is perfect and I agree Capitalism that is left unchecked is not something this country nor the world need.

As for how former Soviets or Maoist view today Russia or China would be interesting. You can view CCTV to get the propaganda news from China to see their view on things but the general society would be more interesting.

You've put your finger on something with the Socialist vs. Communist terms. While Sanders was threatening the Free World, there was a thread a minute conflating the two. They are different and socialism doesn't actually bother me, but it is hysterically and vehemently opposed by many because of the label more than the reality, I think. To many people socialism IS communism. I'd be perfectly happy with a smidge of whatever works, so long as it provides for the welfare of the people and allows us to remain free.

That is the problem with most people and they confuse Communism with Socialism... Canada is Socialist and So is England and those countries I have mentioned and their society do promote social welfare programs while relying on the government to distribute the wealth through taxation but they do not promote one party systems nor do they deny people personal freedoms to their religion and many other things like was done under Stalinism and Maoism.

Yes in Socialist countries you are regulated and in a smaller nation it can work perfectly fine but here in America and under the system this country was created it will conflict greatly because of personal freedoms and state rights that could conflict with Federal Government desires.

Oh, I know I am long winded on this matter but I wish those wanting Communism would look at the dangers of such wish and the many failures of the system and realize they may want more of a Socialist system that is nothing like the Stalinist society that some envision...

The Worst Byproduct of the Right Wing Is Its Children

From its very beginning, Communism has been a fraud. It was always a scheme for the sons of the rich to take over the democratic movements they were afraid would overthrow their rule by birth rather than worth.
