All of us on here have a personal interest in retaining the freedom of the internet from government interference. No matter how much trash is generated over the web, it is still a crucial source for open and uncensored debate.

But, what if this article is true? Can – or will – the internet under radical = and unfavorable – changes due to the factors listed?

Very nature of the internet precludes any draconian controls on it. When the US banned porn on usenet a while back it simply went somewhere else. Worst case, government interference on the internet simply makes continued access illegal. But unless they're able to enforce their own laws arresting every violator of a law, the law's superfluous. How's that ban on mp3s going dya think? :)
