The Obamacare Hotline and Earline Davis

She wasn't working for the federal government, she was working for a private contractor hired by the federal government. She was fired by her private contractor boss for breaking the rules and talking to the press.

I know how you guys need to frame the debate as if this woman is being persecuted by the government, but use some common sense.

Come on, man. Firing this lady is like kicking a teddy bear. Was what she did really that bad?

She publicly embarrassed her employer on a national stage. Why is that hard to understand?
...................................................................

Obama publicly lied to his employers,--The American people--repeatedly and emphatically, on an issue of great importance to them.

It was a calculated bald faced lie, thereby similar in nature to the one that got Clinton impeached, but Clinton lied about a blow job----Obama's lie was far more serious to the welfare of the American people.

Obama would be fired (impeached) except he enjoys the immunity of black skin.

And FUCK the Race Card. It has been played until its use has come to an eternal end--though its abuse and the hypocrisy of the socialists asses who have worn it out.

Fuck all you socialist parasites---white or black.

Clinton was impeached because he lied under oath.

It's not illegal for the President to lie, every President has done so.

Okay gentlemen. This thread is not about the sins of Obama or Clinton or anybody else EXCEPT as they do or do not apply to the story of Earline Davis's firing. So take the impeachment discussion to an appropriate thread please.

And let's focus here.

Do you want a government that muzzles its employees? That would fire an employee purely because of an honest observation that people are not happy with the situation as it exists?

And Fuck this outrageous excuse for him. A president who lies directly to the American people on an issue of grave importance to them--should be impeached, Nixon, Clinton, Obama....all liars...none caught so red-handedly as Obama.

Fuck you socialists government tit-suckers for defending him.

Pretty simple, an employment situation. New employee (5 weeks) makes mistake, employer wants to terminate the relationship. Fired employee makes out good in the end. I like this type of ending...:)

Yes.

I want federal employees to do their jobs, not opine on radio shows about whether people like what they're doing.

You're essentially asking that Federal employees not be held to the same standard as private sector employees, which is baffling to me.

A 5 week employee anywhere does not have the requisite experience to make a statement for the organization the individual is employed by especially one in this Earline's capacity. She did not qualify her statement nor did she have the authority to do so. She is merely a tool for Hannity.

How? How did she embarrass anybody in that brief interview.?

By telling the truth - that no one was happy with it.

The fact that she was right is irrelevant.

So she was supposed to lie about that? That would be a real confidence booster for the U.S. government wouldn't it.

No, she should have said "I'm sorry, I'm not authorized to talk to the media" as soon as Sean identified himself.

Am I? I was a member of the media for a number of years and I interviewed MANY people regarding issues with their place of business, their unions, and newsworthy circumstances related to these.

I have been in various positions of responsibility in which I have been interviewed by newspaper, radio, or television reporters and I never had to get permission to give those brief interviews. Frequently on the newscast or in a news story, you see a person interviewed regarding this or that event and they almost certainly did not get permission from their employes to give those statements.

Earline Davis did not bad mouth her employer. She did not talk down Obamacare. She did nothing other than her job which was to take calls of citizens with questions and she answered a very non technical and non personally directed question truthfully. I would expect ANY government employee to be able to do that freely, openly, and without consequence.

If a radio host called up Verizon Wireless customer service, and the representative told them, on the air, that no one was happy with Verizon service - do you honestly believe that person should be protected from reprisal by their bosses?

Baloney. That should have been her response only if she had agreed when she was hired not to talk to the media. No such request was made of her, according to her. And she did the honorable thing of telling the truth that, in a normal honest world, would have increased confidence in our government if it was the policy instead of the unspoken sin.

She didn't embarrass anybody, except maybe the fiasco that is Obamacare. She didn't mention her employer at all.

That is different. Earline Davis did not say that nobody was happy with Obamacare. When asked if anybody was happy with the way things were going, she honestly answered 'not really'. She wasn't bashing anything or anybody. She was being honest. She had already explained that the website was having numerous glitches and they were working on it.

We were at the Verizon Store just yesterday, ironically enough, shopping for new phones and perhaps a different service plan. The salesperson was informative and honest. She told us what products we would probably be most happy with and the ones she would not recommend because they would not be user friendly for us. When we inquired about available plans for what we needed, she was up front about what we would probably not like about this plan or that plan. We didn't buy that day but we will return to that store and we will seek her out because we felt we were being advised honestly. We were actually more knowledgeable than she knew, and had she attempted to blow smoke, she would have likely lost a customer.

Since Verizon is rated #1 in customer service and satisfaction of all existing phone companies, a salesperson who said most people aren't happy with it would obviously be deliberately sabotaging the company.

Her employer, for all intents and purposes, was "Obamacare".

I concede she made a mistake. But I don't think her intent was to embarrass anybody. She actually does seem like a very nice lady.

I guess it's like the famous axiom in Washington..."the worst mistake you can make is to tell the truth."

Off topic: I would like to register a mile complaint to whomever moved this thread out of politics into Current Events. I wanted it in Politics for the on topic protection that afforded and because I can't think of anything more political than this topic is right now.

You're picking apart details in my hypothetical while ignoring the point entirely.

Substitute a shitty company in place of Verizon. Let's say the customer service representative was being completely "honest" when he said no one was happy with the service.

This isn't about whether she was "right" or "wrong", "honest" or not.

This is about her job was to represent the people she worked for on the phone, and they have decided she didn't do a good job of it.
