Unbeknownst to some, one of the main reasons we have an electoral college is...……..the States created, and therefore were to be able to assert its will on the federal government. That is also why senators were created, they were in Washington to represent the states, while the house was to represent the people.

Doesn't one wonder why a law can not be passed WITHOUT senate approval? It is because the way it was set up, the STATES had to approve it BEFORE it ever got to the Presidents desk!

This is the reason that good old Washington wanted direct elections of Senators, instead of appointment by state legislatures. Now, the Senators do NOT work for the states, they work for political partys, which is not how the constitution was constructed. In essence, the states have little or no power in Washington because of the change. If this one change was changed back, everything in Washington would change almost instantly! You would NOT have Democratic/Republican senators voting in party lines, they would instead vote the will of the state, or be replaced.

I submit that this is the most IMPORTANT repeal we could do for our country, because the Senate would then become far less partisan, and more willing to cut deals.

Even though it has worked against my candidates in the recent past, the Electoral College was one of the many genius ideas that the framers came up with. I would prefer that the college be amended to force the President Elect to win both the EC and the PV ensuring that the next president has a plurality of the popular vote as well as the electoral college but getting rid of it would be the worst thing that could happen to our electoral process.
