The Real Reason Tyson Bit Holyfield's Ear Off

This is a case where the fighter was done and his manager made it worse by yelling at him and trying to force him to fight.

If the fighter thinks he's had enough you don't do what this jerk manager did to Golota.

Sometimes that happens during a fight. The reason the ref is in there is to prevent dirty fighters from using dirty tactics to win.

Sometimes you get headbutted.
Sometimes you get hit with a low-blow.

But when it becomes clear that those dirty tactics are part of your game plan, the ref is responsible for issuing warnings and point deductions.
It seems to me that Holyfield knew he was gonna get away with cheap-shots on Tyson, because he hit Tyson several times below the belt.

I remember seeing Andrew Golota hitting Riddick Bowe repeatedly in the nuts and was disqualified.
Holyfield should have been disqualified for ramming Tyson with his head and hitting him in the nuts.
But Holyfield camouflaged his low-blows and heat butts.

Fair enough.

OMG, you just made me remember Tyson vs what was the guys name? Was it this guy? The guy was beating Tyson. All he had to do was stop hitting Tyson in the nuts. He couldn't stop. I'm not sure if this is the guy

Tyson, who was the number one contender, faced number two contender Donovan "Razor" Ruddock on March 18, 1991, in Las Vegas. Ruddock was seen as the most dangerous heavyweight around and was thought of as one of the hardest punching heavyweights. Tyson and Ruddock went back and forth for most of the fight, until referee Richard Steele controversially stopped the fight during the seventh round in favor of Tyson. This decision infuriated the fans in attendance, sparking a post-fight melee in the audience. The referee had to be escorted from the ring.

Tyson and Ruddock met again on June 28 that year, with Tyson knocking down Ruddock twice and winning a twelve-round unanimous decision 113–109, 114–108, and 114–108.[76] A fight between Tyson and Holyfield for the undisputed championship was scheduled for November 8, 1991, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, but Tyson pulled out after sustaining a rib cartilage injury during training.

Or am I remembering it the other way around? Was it Tyson hitting below the belt?

Apart from the biting incident Tyson was a clean fighter.

He held too much reverence for the sport to cheat on purpose.

After Tyson lost to Buster Douglas everyone started trying to rough him up and cheat.

The Razor Ruddock fight had a lot of hitting after the bell, but Mike never got into a situation that he couldn't control himself in either fight.

It was pretty much even in the first fight, but Mike clocked Ruddock in the second fight and he won on a TKO.
