an audit of tax returns is where the IRS audits you. you can have an independent private firm audit you, but generally an audit is where the IRS conducts an exhaustive background of your tax claims. they pore over receipts etc.....

it is not a fun process and is completely different than merely releasing your tax returns. i could release my tax returns and that still would not be an audit by anyone. dumbass lakhota thinks that the american people can audit romney by him simply releasing his tax returns. they can't, unless they can access all his accounts, receipts etc...
