The Senate Just Pushed The Country Off A Cliff, And Then Headed For The Hills

Despite the pandemic-induced recession, millions of jobless Americans have been kept afloat by an uncharacteristically generous act of Congress. In addition to their state’s usual unemployment payments — usually a fraction of their previous wages — Americans have been eligible to receive and additional $600 a week, desperately needed support for people who saw their incomes crater.

But Republicans have been outraged that the payments were so generous, so they objected to legislation the Democrats passed in May to extend the program. They proposed a number of different ideas to extend the program on a more limited basis, but all these ideas came at the last minute and the GOP caucus couldn’t agree on a single plan. So on Friday, the program officially expires — meaning unemployed Americans who had been receiving a boost of $2,400 a month from the government will suddenly see those payments slashed to zero.

And now, the Senate has gone home for a long weekend.

The convenient part is they don't have to hold any townhall meetings. Probably should stay inside the house for their safety anyway.

Speaker Pelosi passed a bill in May. The Republican-led Senate can't agree on passing any bill.

Nancy went home to her $24,000 freezer and $14/pint ice cream

Maybe so, but she passed her bill back in May. Republican Senators are gridlocked and fighting among themselves - and can't pass a bill.

If Republicans aren’t putting party over country, they’re putting political dogma over the American people.

Yeah, who the fuck wants to go back to work

How come they didn't do the same things they've done for a virus
back in 2009 when we were headed for the Next Great Depression

They put tax payers on the hook for $29 Trillion dollars

Despite the democrat-induced recession.

Caught some TV news earlier and they are expecting between a THIRD to HALF of all restaurants in our area to go out of business.
It's like that here too...........The funds must match the old pay scale and not be more than they made before........There is no incentive to go back that way..........And all they are doing is continue to turn the dollar into toilet paper anyway.

They need Chaos to achieve BS............possible Global Reset BS this time........not sure.

I'm not on either..........and they are going to insolvency just like the dollar..............I went back to work and have been working after 5 weeks off..........slowly we are getting in more people.....SLOWLY.......and it's all due to a HEAD COUNT EQUATION......for a lot of it........Only allowed so many people back by strategy......and the fact that they took a big hit on this BS.

Social Security and Medicare are why this country is bankrupt already........That and corrupt politicians lining their own pockets............While Americans got laid off......in MASS.......The politicians gave themselves a RAISE as their policies laid off 40 million Americans.......bunch of damned assholes.

It is less a recession, and more an emergency response: When Consumption Spending increases two months in a row with 30 mil. people unemployed, and getting the Stimulus bonus. The Stimulus money keeps businesses open, tax receipts flowing, Essential Labor at work doing Essential Labor--and so helping control the response to the emergency.

Instead of a "Credit Card" comparison, a comparison with WWII deficit is the usual way to think about a response to a Worldwide Emergency.

It is noted on this message board of the truth: That Martians Landed, called "Antifa:" Coughing up and spitting DNA(?). Guess what they think the real problem was(?)!

30 mil. people kept on spending. The contrary news was sensationalist as usual: Entire dozens of people, divided into two cities in the Pacific Northwest, creating an "Emergency" response(?). Maybe five city blocks were involved.

Suggested conclusion: Retail location security camera videos rarely make the news!

"Crow, James Crow: Shaken, Not Stirred!"
(Rarely noticed in the prayers: Matthew 25: 14-30, that everybody prays for--coming every year, not just a second time!)

Wow.

They're taking the hoover blunder approach which isn't surprising. They're republicans, they don't learn from their mistakes.

Look for things to get very ugly very soon.

We're doing the 1918 pandemic, the 1930s republican Great Depression and the 1960s civil unrest all at once.

It's good thing we're Americans. We can do this. We will come out of this. The only question is, do we have the will to rebuild a new America better than the one before?

The rich people are allowed to abuse the system with impunity, but god help the poor person who takes a bit of anything. Kanye West got millions. So did Reese Witherspoon. Small black owned business owners, not so much.

1. you can't keep giving out mucho tax $$$$--a lot of it to lazy jackasses
2. that's more than a lot of them even make !!! DUH

Saw goodbye to the v shaped recession. McConnell''s whole history is he never gets in front of his members consensus, and this time there doesn't seem to have been a consensus. The gop is paralyzed. I'm not sure why. Several ideas come to mind, but I don't know

Republicans are running a $3 trillion deficit

They are willing to run up debt anywhere but helping the unemployed

False.

Enough is enough. And now we have had enough, it is time to get back to work. If dems want to keep people out of work and destroy their lives, it is on them. The rest of us will not have our lives destroyed because you have an extreme aversion to working and can only think about free shit.

The ONLY lives that are being destroyed are those of the people who are facing eviction/foreclosure, and loss of income because of Donald Trump's failure to contain covid19. The billionare class is getting richer. American workers are being forced back to work in the middle of a pandemic after being stripped of all of the worker protections against unsafe worker conditions.

The only result of Republican policies will be more death, more disease, and more social unrest are more and more people get sick and die.
